George Linde Replaces Wanindu Hasaranga LSG IPL 2026: Sri Lanka’s star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is out of IPL 2026. Lucknow Super Giants have announced South African off-spin all-rounder George Linde as his replacement. The LSG franchise said in an official statement that Hasaranga has been ruled out of the entire season due to injury. He suffered a hamstring injury during the T20 World Cup 2026, from which he has not been able to recover yet.

George Linde, who came to the Lucknow team as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, has experience of 37 matches in international T20 cricket, in which he has taken 35 wickets. He also bats well and has scored 403 runs in his T20 career for South Africa.

George Linde has never played in IPL. He had kept his base price at Rs 1 crore in the auction, but it remained unsold. Now luck has given him the IPL contract of Lucknow Super Giants team. He has played for Mumbai Indians franchise in SA20 and Major League Cricket.

Lucknow Super Giants management had considered players to choose the replacement of Wanindu Hasaranga. The names of Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman and England’s Liam Dawson were also considered, but in the end South African all-rounder George Linde was signed.

Talking about total T20 career, George Linde has experience of 250 matches. In this huge career, apart from taking 218 wickets, he has also scored 2,746 runs in batting. His batting strike rate is more than 136 and has also played four half-century innings.

In IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants team has so far registered 2 wins in 3 matches. He is at fifth position in the points table with 4 points. Both the victories of Lucknow so far have come very close.

Regarding Josh English, it was believed that hardly anyone would buy him in the IPL 2026 auction. In fact, even Punjab Kings did not leave him, because he played an important role in taking the franchise to the finals last season. When Punjab Kings released their retention list, everyone was surprised to not see the name of Josh Inglis. Actually, English had performed well last year, with the help of which the team reached the finals. Later it came to light that English had told that he would be able to play only 4 matches, so Punjab released him. Then the reason behind this was also revealed as to why England would be able to play only 4 matches.

Josh English sold for 8.6 crores

The base price of Josh Inglis was Rs 2 crore, but it was believed that all the franchises could avoid betting on him. But on the contrary, he got a huge amount. Lucknow Super Giants bought Inglis for Rs 8 crore 60 lakh. Sunrisers Hyderabad was also continuously increasing its bid to buy wicket-keeper batsman Inglis, he had reached Rs 8.40 crore.

Why will England play only 4 matches in IPL 2026?

Josh Inglis will get married during the IPL 2026 season, due to which he had already told that he will not be able to play all the matches of IPL season 19. He will be able to play only 4 matches, for which he had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. It was expected that hardly anyone would buy the team, but on the contrary, they also got a huge amount. Lucknow Super Giants bought him for Rs 8 crore 60 lakh.

Josh English made his debut in IPL last year. In the 11 matches he played for Punjab Kings, he scored 278 runs with a strike rate of 162.57, which included a half-century.

Before the IPL 2026 auction, all 10 teams have released their lists of retained and released players. After the announcement of IPL retention, the main squads of most of the teams have been confirmed. Now the auction to fill the remaining slots will be held on December 16. Kolkata Knight Riders is the team which has retained the least number of players.
