A surprising incident has come to light in America. Here an Indian citizen has been accused of violence during an international flight. According to US officials, this man named 28-year-old Praneet Kumar Usiripalli attacked two passengers with a metal fork on Lufthansa Airlines flight LH-431 going from Chicago to Germany. Apart from this, he also slapped a female passenger. This incident occurred on October 25, after which the flight made an emergency landing at Boston Logan International Airport.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Praneet Kumar, who was on board the flight, suddenly became aggressive. He hit a 17-year-old teenager on the shoulder and another teenager on the back of the head with a metal fork, injuring both. When the flight crew tried to stop him, Praneet made a gun gesture with his hand and placed it in his mouth and pretended to fire. This action spread panic among the passengers and the situation started worsening.

After the attack, Praneeth turned towards a female passenger sitting nearby and slapped her. The flight attendants immediately controlled him and tied him to his seat for safety reasons. After this the pilot diverted the plane towards Boston Airport, where the police arrested him.

How much can be the punishment?

The US Federal Prosecution Office (US Attorney’s Office Massachusetts) said that Praneeth has been accused of assault with a dangerous weapon. This is a serious crime and if found guilty under it, he can face up to 10 years in jail, up to 3 years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000 (about ₹ 2 crore).

According to officials, it is not clear whether there was any mental or personal reason behind the attack. The accused was arrested on October 25 and will soon be produced in the federal court in Boston.

An air hostess on the aircraft tried to talk to the co-pilot by calling in the cockpit, but did not get any reply.

Captain opened the door with emergency code

The captain of the plane used regular safety code five times to return to the cockpit, which could open the door inside and the pilot could open the door, but the co-pilot did not open the door due to being unconscious. Eventually the Captain used the emergency overred code, which would open the door automatically after a few seconds of delay.

However, before the door opens, the co-pilot got some senses and opened the door himself. He was in a very ill condition inside. After this, the captain, sensing the situation, decided to make an emergency landing in Madrid. Where the co-pilot was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Lufthansa conducted internal investigation, but did not disclose

According to the DPA report, Lufthansa is aware of the incident and its flight safety team has investigated on its behalf. However, the company has not made public the findings of this investigation.
