Various forms of Maa Durga are worshiped in nine days of Navratri, in which mother Skandmata is also one. Skandmata is the fifth form of Maa Durga. Therefore, the fifth date of Navratri i.e. today will be worshiped on 27 September 2025.

Worshiping Skandamata fulfills many wishes, including child happiness. It is believed that for the remedy of problems related to childless couple or children, mother Skandmata must be worshiped.

According to the legend, Skandmata originated for the slaughter of Tarakasura. Actually, a demon named Tarakasura had a boon from Brahma ji that his death is possible only at the hands of Shiva’s child.

When Tarakasura’s terror started increasing, mother Parvati took the form of Skandmata and started preparing her son Skanda i.e. Kartikeya for war. Karthikeya killed Tarakasura after receiving war education from Skandmata.
