The Government of India approved a deal of 70 thousand with Germany under Project 75 India on Saturday (August 23, 2025). Under Project 75 India, India will develop six advance submarines in the country in collaboration with Germany. However, the agreement between India and Germany has come after a delay of more than six months.

News agency ANI quoted the defense officials as saying, “The Ministry of Defense and Majhgaon Dockyards Limited (MDL) have approved to start a conversation with the Thesekrorop Marine Systems Company of Germany.

Indian Navy strength will increase

The top officials of India’s defense and national security have taken this decision to construct six advance submarines with the German company in India itself after reviewing the Indian submarine program and its future requirements and holding a high -level meeting. The proposed submarines will also be equipped with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems, so that this submarine will be able to live under water for three weeks without any problem. This advanced feature will increase the strength of the Indian Navy further.

The purpose is to strengthen India’s indigenous capacity

Defense officials said that the purpose of this project is not only to expand the fleet of its submarines, but also strengthen India’s indigenous capacity in the design and construction under this project 75 India. This agreement is reached at a time when India is engaged in modernizing its submarine fleet and on the other hand, China and Pakistan are rapidly expanding their naval capacity.
