Amidst the political turmoil regarding the assembly elections in West Bengal, politics has gained momentum over the incident of gherao of judicial officers in Malda district. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has blamed Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM and a regional party of the state, the Indian Secular Front (ISF) for this incident. Apart from this, Mamata Banerjee has accused Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of instigating this incident.

He said that the mastermind of the siege of judicial officers for several hours on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) in Mothabadi in Malda district has been arrested by the state CID. He has also claimed that the West Bengal Police is still under his control and not the Election Commission.

TMC chief Mamata Banerjee spoke in Harirampur

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while addressing an election rally organized at Harirampur in South Dinajpur district on Friday (April 3, 2026), alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hired the accused from AIMIM and brought him here. ISF is also with them. Congress and BJP have also instigated.

He said, ‘CID has arrested advocate Mofakkarul Islam, the main accused in the siege of judicial officers, from Bagdogra Airport when he was trying to escape. It is he who has instigated violence in Mothabadi of Malda.

What are Mamata Banerjee’s allegations against AIMIM?

Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Bhawanipur and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that goons are being brought from outside to create unrest in the election-bound state of West Bengal. These people do not even spare the judges. He also accused AIMIM that the party had helped BJP win by dividing votes in Bihar assembly elections.

Mamta Banerjee targeted Amit Shah

During this period, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said, ‘During the elections, the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in West Bengal will reduce the vote percentage of BJP.’

In fact, Amit Shah has said that he will camp in Bengal for 15 days during the two-phase assembly elections to be held on 23 and 29 April. On this, Mamata Banerjee said that even if you stay in Bengal for 365 days, nothing is going to change.
