Changing lifestyle and catering around the world are making a serious impact on health and environment. In such a situation, a new and shocking report has come out recently, claiming that if people all over the world adopt plant-rich ie plants based on plants, then every day about 40,000 people can avoid premature deaths. This diet talks about consuming a limited amount of carnivorous food and also tells about health as well as protection of environment. According to this report, there is about one third of the greenhouse gas emissions emitted from the global food system. If people adopt planetary health diet, then by 2050 the climate damage caused by food system can be halved. Also, this food production is not only becoming the biggest reason for the destruction of wildlife and forests, but is also becoming a major reason for making water polluted.

What is Planetary Health Diet?

Planetary health diet is mainly based on vegetables, fruits, nuts, pulses and whole grains. However, according to this report, planetary health diet can include some animal products like meat, egg or milk. Regarding this diet, experts say that this diet is not a renunciation of any kind, but food can be prepared in many ways by mixing these things. These food are beneficial for health as well as environment.

Claims in report harmful food harmful

It has been revealed in this report that eating more non -vegetarian food can be dangerous for our health. At the same time, it has also been told in the report that people in America and Canada eat seven times more red meats than the recommendation of Planetary Health Diet. It is five times more in Europe and Latin America and four times more in China. At the same time, in some areas like sub-city Africa, people mostly eat starchy food. In such a situation, eating small amounts of chicken, dairy products and eggs can be beneficial for them. The report also states that the rich people of the world produce the largest part of environmental damage caused by food production. According to this report, 30 percent of the world’s richest 30 percent people produce more than 70 percent of the environmental damage caused by the food system. At the same time, 2.8 billion people cannot afford healthy food and 1 billion people are malnourished. Apart from this, about 1 billion people are troubled by obesity.

Benefits of adopting planetary health diet

The report also suggested that unhealthy food should be expensive and healthy food cheaper. At the same time, advertisement of unhealthy food should be controlled and warning labels should also be installed on it. Along with this, the subsidy of farming should be diverted to eat healthy and durable food. This will help people easily reach nutritious food. Oxprts say that adopting planetary health diet reduces the risk of heart problems, strokes, diabetes cancer and neurodynamic diseases. By adopting this diet, 15 million people can be stopped before time. Along with changing the diet, it is also necessary to reduce food waste, adopt green farming.

Unicef Report on Child Obsity: For the first time in the world, the problem of obesity is increasing instead of lean in children. UNICEF’s new report warns that ultra processed junk food is dominating the food of children, causing their health and development in serious threat. According to the report, about 188 million in the world, one in every 10 children is obese.

Katherine Russell, executive director of UNICEF, said about the report that when we talk about malnutrition, now not only lean children but also the children struggling with obesity will have to be worried. Junk food is now replacing fruits, vegetables and protein. Whereas for the physical and mental development of children, proper nutrition is very important.

Obesity replaced malnutrition

The report suggests that 9.2 children between 5 and 19 years are lean, while 9.4 copy children are obese. In the year 2000, where about 13% of the children were lean and only three percent were thick, the situation has reversed. Obesity has now become a bigger threat than malnutrition in all areas.

Which countries are the worst in which countries

Pacific Iceland- Neeu and Cook Iceland have the highest obesity rate among children aged 5 to 19 years.

Chile, America and UAE-The situation is also serious in these three rich countries. Among these countries, Chile has a rate of 27 percent of Chile, in the US and in the UAE 21 percent obesity.

Britain- In the year 2000 in Britain, the rate of obesity in children was 9 perfects, which has now increased to 11 copies in 2022.

Kenya- In Kenya, in the last 20 years, the number of thick girls has doubled to 13 replica.

South Africa- In South Africa, one in every 8 children are struggling with obesity while one in every four children are victims of stunting.

Big impact on children’s health

UNICEF reports suggest that obesity is increasing the risk of heart diseases, diabetes and cancer in children. Ultra processed food -like packets, sweet drinks, biscuits, cakes and ready -to -eat meals dominate the children’s diet. These foods contain high amount of sugar fat and salt and they pass through industrial process. This report warns that the schools and markets are full of junk food and their marketing on digital platforms is targeting children and parents. UNICEF has appealed to the governments to impose labeling and tax on junk food. Apart from this, their sales and advertisements should be banned in schools and better plans should be made to give healthy diet to poor families. In this report, Mexico’s move has also been praised where the sale and distribution of junk food has been banned in the school.

The United Nations has officially declared a famine in Gaza City and its surrounding areas. This is the first time that some place in West Asia is said to be famine. The report of Integrated Food Security Face Classification says that the situation here has become so serious that about 5 lakh people are facing the threat of destructive hunger and death. In such a situation, let us tell you today how much death due to starvation is declared.

When is the famine declared

Three conditions are required to be fulfilled to declare the word United Nations famine.

In which the first condition does not have enough food with at least 20% of the population of a place.

At the same time, another condition is that in every 10,000 people, two people are dying of hunger daily, only then a famine is declared.

Apart from this, the third condition is that more than 30 percent of the children should be malnourished at that place.

When these three conditions are fulfilled, it is assumed that starvation has now reached the situation of broader deaths. At the same time, a famine is declared at any place in such circumstances.

Ghaza’s terrible picture

According to the UN report, Gaza Governor, which is about 20% on the entire strip, has already reached the IPC Face 5 i.e. Famine confirmed level. Here more than half a million people are deprived of food medicines and drinking water. 98% of the agricultural sector of Gaza is either completely destroyed or out of reach. Apart from this, Livestock is over and there is a ban on fishing. In March 2025, Israeli completely stopped food supply in Gaza. There was some relief in May but by then the condition had deteriorated a lot.

UN warning

The UN has said that if there was no immediate ceasefire and human help is not provided to Gaza, then the number of people who died of hunger will increase manifold in the coming weeks. UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres has called it humanity failure and fully man-made disaster.

Israel’s refusal

However, Israel has rejected the United Nations report. Israel’s Foreign Ministry says that there is no famine in Gaza. There has reached a large amount of assistance in recent weeks and the prices of food items have fallen. Israel claims that this report is a document prepared under political pressure.

Also read- Netanyahu is ruining Gaza! Why do Muslim countries not attack Israel together, what is fear?

Malnutrition remains a major challenge in India. India is a country where there is no shortage of people fond of food, but it is worth noting that our body is getting plenty of nutrition or not. Many children under the age of five are malnourished in India, which is a matter of concern. Let us know how many such children are there.

What do data say

Actually, according to one data, 16 percent of children in India are malnourished. Especially about 3 crore children under the age of 5 are malnourished. This is a problem that not only affects the health of children, but also the future of the country. At the same time, 37.07 percent of the children registered till June 2025 are suffering from nattapan. 19.3 percent of the children whose weight is less according to the height. Apart from this, according to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019-21), 35.5% of children under the age of 5 are dwarf in India, that is, the length is short according to their age. 32.1% of children are underweight, and 7.7% of children suffer from Westing.

What to do to protect children from malnutrition?

Balanced and nutritious diet

The first step to protect children from malnutrition is a balanced diet for them. For 6 months, children should be given only mother’s milk, because it is the most nutritious and complete diet for them. After 6 months, start a supplementary diet, including lentils, rice, green vegetables, fruits, and protein -rich foods such as milk, eggs and peanuts.

Focus on cleanliness
A major cause of malnutrition is diarrhea and other diseases, which are caused by dirt and contaminated water. Children should be given clean water and boiled water. It is necessary to wash hands before cooking and feeding.

Regular health check -up and vaccination
Malnutrition can be detected in the initial stage by regular health check -up of children. Children’s weight, length and health check -up are done for free at Anganwadi centers and primary health centers. Also, get vaccinated at the right time which protect children from diseases.

Awareness and education
Awareness is very important to fight malnutrition. It is very important for parents to be aware of nutrition, hygiene and development of children. Anganwadi and health workers are working in this direction in rural areas.

Gujarat malnutrition: In Gujarat, a very shocking report has come out about the condition of children and malnutrition. The latest report of NITI Aayog (NITI Aayog) states that about 40% of children under 5 years of age in Gujarat are underweight or dwarf. Seeing this report, many questions are arising, because Gujarat (Gujarat) comes in the most developed and industrial states of the country. Let’s know the reason for this state’s situation and what the report says …

Paper and truth in Gujarat are different

Anganwadi centers in India are considered to be the backbone for nutrition and education, especially in rural and backward areas. According to the census, 7.8 million children in Gujarat should have been enrolled in these centers, but the CAG report shows only 4.1 million children by 2022-23.

That is, about 48% of children are left away from nutrition. From 2015-16 to 2022-23, 3.7 million children in the state were left out of neutritional supplements. At the same time, only 18.8% of children aged 3-6 years got pre-school education.

Alert of NITI Aayog

According to SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Index 2023-24, 40% of children under 5 years of age are underweight or dwarf. More than 38% of the population is malnourished. The state’s SDG-2 score has slipped from 49 to 46 in 2018. These figures show that the state is lagging behind in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

What is the truth

According to a recent study, only 2 out of 5 nutrients are present in the plate of tribal families in the state. Ration distribution is also uneven and incomplete. 62.5% of women aged 15 to 49 years are vulnerable to anemia.

What has the government done so far

The Gujarat government started two new schemes in the last few months. The first Chief Minister Nutritional Minority Scheme, in which a budget of ₹ 607 crore was given to the students to give breakfast rich in protein. The second nutrition mission, in which ₹ 75 crore was allotted for the care of mother and child. Despite this, the ratio of underdeveloped children has come down from 53.6% in 2022 to 40.8% in 2024. The number of low weight children has come down from 23.1% to 21%, which is a very slow improvement.
