According to media reports, as soon as the picture of BJP forming the government in the state became clear after the counting of votes, Kolkata Police made a major change in its ‘following’ list. The official handle of the police unfollowed former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. In their place, now the official X handles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are being followed.

Till now Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee were considered an important part of the digital connectivity of the state administration. But suddenly removing him from the following list after BJP’s victory is raising many questions. Opposition parties are linking this to the ‘new loyalty’ of the administration.
