Mango Export News: People wait for the summer season for a special reason, and that reason is ‘mangoes’. It is not called the king of fruits for nothing. Mango flourishes in India but it is highly sought after in foreign countries also. Therefore, every year in this season, mangoes are exported to foreign countries in large quantities. But this time the export of Indian mangoes has got a big success. Now mangoes will be exported by sea route.

Big success in export of mangoes
In fact, steps are being taken in this direction to promote the export of Indian mangoes. Now mangoes will be exported not by plane but by sea route. This success was achieved when 4.3 tonnes of Banganapalli mangoes from Andhra Pradesh were successfully sent to Singapore in a special refrigerated (reefer) container. This technology has been developed by ICAR-Central Institute of Subtropical Horticulture (ICAR-CISH), Lucknow in collaboration with APEDA.

Cost will also be less
Till now, premium Indian mangoes were mostly exported by air or plane. In this the transportation cost ranged from Rs 150 to Rs 250 per kg. This cost will reduce after shipping by sea route. Its cost can come down to Rs 13 to 20 per kg. This means the expenses of exporters will be much less.

Will the long journey be possible?
The biggest challenge in exporting mangoes by sea route was that the mangoes should not get spoiled during the long sea journey. For this, scientists have created such a technology in which chemical-free farming, Good Agricultural Practice (GAP), scientific plucking, grading, packing and proper management after harvesting were adopted. Apart from this, hot water treatment and CISH-Met Wash technology was used on mangoes, which maintained their quality, reduced the risk of diseases and increased the shelf life. With this new technology, mangoes can remain fresh for 30 days.

But recently such news came out from Nepal which broke the hearts of mango lovers, no, not those living in India but the hearts of mango lovers living in Nepal. However, now the truth of this news has come out from the government side.

Indian mango banned in Nepal
Actually there were reports that Indian mango has been banned in Nepal. Only last Tuesday, there were reports that after Japan, Nepal has also banned the export of mangoes from India. The reason behind this was said to be that Indian mangoes contain high amounts of pesticides. In such a situation, it is harmful for the people there. However, now the government has rejected any such news.

Statement of Government of Nepal and India
Now both the Government of India and the Government of Nepal themselves have reacted to these news. The Central Government on Wednesday termed this news as completely misleading and said, ‘It has been claimed in some media reports that Nepal has banned the import of Indian mangoes, which is completely wrong and misleading. Under the existing rules, import is continuing subject to compliance with plant health conditions.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has also said in its statement that Nepal’s Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center itself clarified on June 10 that no ban has been imposed on Indian mangoes.

Where did these news come from?
Let us tell you that recently Nepal has made some changes in the rules regarding imports. Under which certain measures have been made necessary to maintain the safety of fruits and other agricultural products. From here this news spread among the people and created panic among the Indian farmers as well as the traders of Nepal. It is noteworthy that India has sent 149 consignments of 2,005 tonnes of mango to Nepal this year i.e. from January 2026 till now. And so far in June, 18 consignments of 266 tonnes of mangoes have been exported.

The journey started in 1997

The journey began in 1997, when Reliance faced serious pollution issues at the Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat. The purpose of this initiative was to make a green belt around the industrial area, so that pollution can be kept under control.

The garden is spread over 600 acres

The garden was named Dhirubhai Ambani Lakhibagh Amrai, which is spread over 600 acres after Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani. It has more than 1.3 lakh mango trees. There are more than 200 varieties of mangoes in the garden. Bagh’s name is also inspired by the historic Lakhibagh Bagh built by Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century.

Initially there was doubt about mango yield here because there was fear of salinity in strong winds, water and soil. However, mangoes were cultivated by adopting the right technique, so the yield was also a lot. Anywhere in the world, the cultivation of scientifically successful mangoes cannot be found anywhere else.

More than one mango varieties

Many varieties of mangoes like saffron, Alphonso, Ratna, Indus, Neelam and Amrapali are grown in the garden. Apart from this, Tommy Atkins and Kent from Florida and many international mango varieties like Lily, Pest and Maya are also increasing the glory of garden. The demand for mangoes of these special varieties grown in the garden is in many countries of the world like America. Similarly, like other industries, Reliance has also left a deep impression in general exports.
