The eyes of the world are on just 15-year-old opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. A three-match T20 series will be played between India and Zimbabwe in Harare from Thursday, in which Kishore Suryavanshi, who has stepped into senior international cricket from the Under-19 circuit, will have a chance to prove himself.

Suryavanshi has won the Under-19 World Cup final title for India by scoring unbeaten 175 runs at Harare Sports Club. This is the same ground where Zimbabwe’s tall and fast bowlers like Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarwa have been getting seam movement and bounce. These bowlers are ready to test their mettle with short-pitch bowling, just like Joffra Archer did.

However, former India spinner Maninder Singh believes that even if the opposing teams look closely at the weaknesses of the teenage batsman and target them, Suryavanshi has the natural talent, habit of hard work and a support system with which he can adapt to the conditions and move beyond the modest score of 42 runs scored in his first three international matches in England.

In a special conversation with ‘FanCode’, the broadcaster of the T20 series between India and Zimbabwe, Maninder told ‘IANS’, “Yes, but it is also a matter of conditions. When you start playing with senior players after playing with Under-19 players, he is a very good cricketer according to that level. When you start playing with senior players, and there are conditions like England where there is a little bounce, then There are certain weaknesses which are caught by the international teams. This is because a lot of videos are watched and attempts are made to find the weaknesses, and now when you have started playing international cricket, people will also think about how this 15-year-old player will score runs. So, you will see that the bowlers will try a little harder to beat them.”

Maninder considers Suryavanshi to be an extraordinary talent who will find his own way to adapt to the situation. He hopes that Suryavanshi will not leave this problem like this, but will start working actively on it.

He said, “Vaibhav is very talented. He will find his own way to adapt to this situation. I think he will also start working in this direction. The advantage with him is that the coach keeps a constant eye on him. The father also stays with him. Hence, his weaknesses will also be known and work on them will start. If a parent starts giving cricket training to his child at the age of 8-9-10, and he goes to India at the age of 15, One thing is for sure: the kid is talented. The second thing is that a lot of hard work has been done to him. The third thing that I see in the future is that Vaibhav will start working on his weaknesses while playing international cricket.”
