Margashirsha Month 2025: After Kartik Purnima, the month of Kartik has ended and the month of Margashirsha has started from today i.e. 6th November 2025. It is also called the month of Aghan. Margashirsha is the ninth month of the Hindu calendar, which is considered sacred for the worship of Lord Krishna and Vishnu. Besides, bathing, charity, worship, fasting, chanting and Tulsi worship also give auspicious results in this month.

Starting today, Thursday, 6 November 2025, the month of Margashirsha will continue till 4 December 2025. Pausha month will start after Margashirsha Purnima.

Why does Shri Krishna love Margashirsha month?

The month of Margashirsha is considered best for worshiping Lord Shri Krishna. According to religious belief, Shri Krishna himself has said in Geeta- ,Maasanan Margashirshoham”that is, in months I am Margashirsha.

For what purposes is the month of Margashirsha best?

• In the month of Margashirsha, the child form of Shri Krishna i.e. Laddu Gopal should be worshipped.
• Every day after waking up in the morning and taking bath, one should offer Arghya to Sun God and offer water to Tulsi.
• This month worship Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
• Chanting “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay” is beneficial in this month.
• By donating food, cloth, oil, sesame and jaggery in this month, one gets the blessings of ancestors and gods.
• On every Thursday of Margashirsha month, offer water and light a lamp under the Tulsi or Peepal tree.
• Service to Guru and parents in the month of Margashirsha is considered especially virtuous.
• This month, fasting on Ekadashi and Purnima and reciting Geeta brings virtue.
• The importance of bathing in holy rivers also increases in the month of Margashirsha. Bathing in rivers like Ganga and Yamuna in this month is considered equivalent to bathing in nectar.

What things should not be done in the month of Margashirsha

• Margashirsha month is the time of devotion. Therefore, avoid ego and debate at this time. Bitterness in speech or dispute disrespects Goddess Lakshmi.
• Do not eat meat, alcohol and tamasic food. The body and mind should be kept sattvik in this month.
• Tulsi worship has special significance in Margashirsha. Therefore, do not break Tulsi leaves in the evening.
• Do not quarrel on Thursday, Ekadashi and Purnima of Margashirsha month., By doing this one does not get the blessings of Lakshmi. This month, maintain peace, restraint and a sense of service at home, family and your workplace.
• Stale or cold food should not be consumed during the month of Margashirsha. In Margashirsha, cumin should also not be used in food.
