Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova was suspended for 4 years on Monday. He had refused the anti-doping test, after which action was taken against him. Let us tell you that Marketa Vondrousova of Czech Republic won Wimbledon in the year 2023. He did not give his sample even after being asked by the doping control officer at his home outside the competition in December last year.

Marketa Vondrousova said that stress and poor mental health, as well as concerns about her safety, influenced her decision.

The tribunal considered Vondrousova’s claims and the statement of the doping control officer who attempted to perform the test. The tribunal concluded that the evidence presented did not provide any solid reason for the player to refuse testing.

Karen Moorhouse, CEO of the International Tennis Integrity Agency, said: “We recognize that the testing process is inconvenient, and that it is an additional burden for players who already have a high-pressure job and increased scrutiny, but it is necessary to protect fair competition.

He further said, “The safety and well-being of the players and our testers is important to us. Our testers are trained and professional. They always carry their ID with them. Still, if a player is in doubt, there are other ways by which they can confirm their identity.”

Suspension will end in June 2030

Marketa Vondrousova’s suspension will end on June 21, 2030. During this period, she will not be able to play in any event organized or sanctioned by ITF, WTA, ATP, Grand Slam or any national association. She will not be able to take coaching or even participate in it.
