Waqf amendment bill: Shia religious leader Maulana Kalbe Jawad has targeted the central government regarding the Waqf Amendment Act. He said that the government is lying about Waqf by user that this will not affect any Waqf property before 2025. According to Maulana Kalbe Jawad, any Waqf property can be declared government property under the new law.

Iran’s supreme leader’s fatwas referred

Maulana Jawad said that government officials will have the right to take a decision in this process, so that the government can occupy any Waqf property and no government official will work against the intention of the government. Maulana Kalbe Jawad said that the government is claiming that Waqf has nothing to do with religion, but it is completely wrong. He cited the fatwas of the supreme leader of Iran, saying that Waqf is an integral part of Islam and the government cannot interfere in it.

When Maulana Kalbe Jawad was asked that the government claims that the Waqf Board has recorded several historical and old properties as its property, including Agrasen’s Baoli and ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). In response, Maulana Jawad first claimed that the government has done so to amend the Waqf Act.

‘Action should be taken’

However, when he was told that these properties were recorded in the name of Waqf Board in the 1970s, he replied that the government official surveys the property before registering the property in the name of Waqf, then it is declared a Waqf property under the gadget notification, so the government official who did so should take action. The debate over the Waqf Amendment Act has intensified. While the government is calling it necessary for transparency and better management of assets, religious leaders are considering it as an attack on Waqf’s autonomy.
