The last date for releasing the retention list for IPL 2026 is 15th November. All teams will have to submit their retention lists by 5 pm tomorrow. Before that, there is news that Punjab Kings may release experienced Australian player Glenn Maxwell, while Sunrisers Hyderabad may once again show confidence in Heinrich Klaasen. Meanwhile, according to the report of Cricbuzz, Ajinkya Rahane can remain the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026.

Glenn Maxwell OUT, Klaasen IN

In the mega auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad had retained South African wicketkeeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen for Rs 23 crore. According to Cricbuzz report, there has been no indication of Klaasen being released. He will remain in SRH next season. Klaasen scored 487 runs in 14 matches for Hyderabad in IPL 2025.

On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell scored only 48 runs in 7 matches while playing for Punjab Kings last season. In the same report it was claimed that Maxwell’s release seems certain. Last season, Mitchell Owen was brought as a replacement for Maxwell, he also has little hope of getting retention from Punjab Kings.

There is also an update regarding Royal Challengers Bangalore that Liam Livingstone, Rasikh Dar Salaam and Mayank Agarwal can also be released. Mumbai Indians can release Will Jacques. This is the same Will Jacques, whom Akash Ambani reached to shake hands with the RCB team management after buying in the auction.

Who is the captain of KKR?

Kolkata Knight Riders was captained by Ajinkya Rahane last season. KKR team had tried to trade KL Rahul with Delhi Capitals, but that deal could not be completed due to some reason. If Rahul had come to KKR, he would probably have got the captaincy. For now Rahane can remain the captain.

In the last 35 days, international cricket has seen a period that has surprised cricket lovers. In such a short time, five veteran players of world cricket have decided to retire from different formats of cricket. These include India, West Indies, South Africa and many famous The players are involved. Some player left Test cricket, some said goodbye to the ODI and someone said goodbye to the entire international career.

Nicholas Puran took a shocking decision

This list is started by West Indies star batsman Nicholas Puran. He has shocked everyone with his decision by saying goodbye to international cricket at the age of 29. Puran gave information about his decision through an emotional Instagram post. Former West Indies T20 captain Nicholas Puran was recently seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. Puran has played 61 T20 matches and 106 ODIs in his international cricket career, in which he has scored more than 4000 runs.

Indian cricket gets double shock

This time was even more emotional for Indian cricket fans. Indian cricket got 2 big shocks during this retirement era. The first shock was given by Indian team captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit recently won the ICC T20 World Cup to India, after which he said goodbye to the T20 format. Now he also announced to retire from Test cricket on 7 May. Rohit, 38, has played 67 Test matches, in which he has scored 4301 runs, he has 12 centuries and 18 half -centuries in Test cricket.

A few days after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, one of the most successful batsmen of Team India, also said goodbye to the Test format. His decision came when the Indian team was going to leave for England tour. Kohli has surprised everyone by retiring from Test cricket. Kohli has scored 9230 runs in 123 Tests, including 30 centuries and 31 half -centuries. He also retired from T20 format in June 2024 and now he will be seen playing only in ODI format.

Klassen and Maxwell also included in this list

South African wicket -keeper batsman Enric Klassen has also retired from international cricket in early June 2025. 33 -year -old Klassen has played 60 ODIs and 58 T20 matches in his career. He has taken this decision giving priority to his family and franchise cricket.

This episode also includes Australia’s explosive all -rounder Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell has decided to retire from ODI format at the age of 36. Due to his back injuries and frequent workload, he has taken a big step to take retirement. Maxwell has played 149 ODIs in his career in which he has scored 3990 runs, including 4 centuries and 23 half -centuries.

These big decisions that have been in less than a month have made it clear that the nature of cricket is changing rapidly., In such a situation, it will be interesting to see which young players will be able to fill the place of these veterans and will emerge as stars of the next decade.,
