He told that India’s maritime border is more than 11,000 kilometers and the country is surrounded by sea from three sides. In such a situation, India’s development cannot be thought of separately from the sea. He also said that about 95% of the country’s trade takes place through sea routes and energy security also depends on the sea to a great extent.

Strong navy is no longer an option, it is a necessity

The Defense Minister clearly said that in this situation, a strong and capable Navy is not an option for India, but an essential requirement. He also added that today we are living in the digital age and the Indian Navy is continuously strengthening our security. Rajnath Singh said that today the state-of-the-art warship ‘Taragiri’ is being inducted into the Indian Navy. Describing it as a symbol of India’s growing maritime power, he congratulated the countrymen, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited and the Indian Navy.

However, Mazagon Dock’s shares are not in the headlines only because of the war between Iran and Israel, but another reason for its rise is the contract worth Rs 99000 crore it got from the Indian Navy. Under this deal, the company has to build 6 modern submarines for the Indian Navy.

Apart from this, after the recent news that an American submarine sank an Iranian warship with a torpedo attack, investor sentiment has strengthened and expectations of more spending on defense have increased worldwide.

Government defense company Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders earned substantial profit in the quarter ending December 2025. During this period, its net profit increased by 9 percent on annual basis to Rs 880 crore and revenue increased by 14.6 percent on annual basis to Rs 3,601.1 crore. At the same time, the company’s EBITDA has also taken a huge leap in the December quarter, which increased by 8.6 percent on an annual basis to Rs 887 crore, while the margin fell to 24.6 percent. The company has also announced a final dividend of Rs 7.5 per share for FY26.

The stock fell below its peak

On Friday, shares of Mazagon Dock fell by more than 1.3 percent to Rs 2367.10, taking its market capitalization to close to Rs 95000 crore. The stock fell nearly 37 percent from its 52-week high of Rs 3778 in May 2025. Before this fall, the stock had risen more than 2500 percent from its IPO price of Rs 145. Despite the correction, it is still 1,530 percent above its IPO price.
