NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Lakhs of candidates who have qualified in NEET UG 2026 are waiting for medical counselling. The Medical Counseling Committee has not yet released the official schedule regarding counselling. However, it is expected that the complete program of counseling can be released in the last week of July i.e. this week or in the beginning of August. Let us tell you that only through the counseling process of MCC, admission will be given in MBBS, BDS and other medical courses in government, private deemed medical colleges and central institutions across the country.

Round-1 counseling may start in August

MCC has not yet released the official calendar, but as per the probable schedule of MCC, registration and choice filling for Round-1 may start in the first week of August. After this, the result of seat allotment is likely to be released in mid-August. Candidates who will get the seat will have to report to the respective college between mid to last week of August. After this, round-2 counseling can be held from the last week of August to mid-September, while round three i.e. mop up round can be held from mid-to-last week of September. Stray vacancy round for remaining vacant seats is likely to be held in October 2026.

Chances of admission are more in these MBBS colleges

This time the number of medical seats has increased. NMC has approved 9,911 new MBBS seats for the current session. After this, the total number of seats across the country has increased to 1,36,939. These seats will be available in 823 medical colleges, which do not include the Institute of National Importance. Of these seats, 63,296 seats are available in government medical colleges, while 73,643 seats are available in private and deemed medical colleges. 25 new medical colleges have also been included in this admission cycle.

Which state has the maximum seats this time?

According to statistics, Karnataka is the state with the highest number of MBBS seats in the country at 15995. Karnataka is also at the forefront in terms of private medical college seats, where 10,995 seats are available. Apart from this, Maharashtra ranks first in terms of government medical college seats, where there are 6000 government MBBS seats.

How many students qualified in NEET UG 2026?

This year 22,79,155 candidates had registered for NEET UG 2026. About 19.99 lakh candidates appeared in the re-exam, out of which 11,21,170 candidates have qualified the exam. This time the success percentage at the national level was 56.08 percent. The top score in the examination was 715, which was jointly achieved by Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana.
