Shortage of medicines even in big cities
In the big cities of Pakistan, Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, along with the shortage of medicines, their prices are also increasing, due to which it has become difficult for the common people to get treatment. Especially the patients suffering from diseases like diabetes, heart patients and cancer are facing the most problems.

If reports are to be believed, the prices of medicines are continuously increasing in the cities of Pakistan from 2023. The prices of essential medicines were increased by about 50% in 2024 and again by 30 to 40% in 2025. Apart from this, the decision of the Shehbaz Sharif government to impose 18% GST on the raw materials and accessories used in making medicines has made the treatment more expensive, making it difficult for the common people to buy essential medicines.
