Africa Ebola outbreak: Africa is once again facing the great threat of Ebola virus. This time the cause for concern is the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, for which no approved vaccine is available yet. The rapidly increasing cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda have alerted health agencies around the world. According to reports, hundreds of suspected cases have been reported and many people have also died. The biggest concern is that this virus is now reaching densely populated areas, due to which the risk of spreading to other countries has also increased.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Africa CDC have considered this situation a serious health emergency. As of now, it is not clear how much effect the vaccine for the Jere strain of Ebola will have on the Bundibugyo strain. For this reason, the world is now busy in the race to prepare a new vaccine.

India has a big role in the race to make vaccine

In this difficult time, India’s big vaccine company Serum Institute of India is going to play an important role. This Pune-based company is preparing to make a new vaccine in collaboration with Oxford University and CEPI. This vaccine will be based on the ChAdOx platform, which was also used in the Covishield vaccine during Covid-19. Serum Institute says that it already has such technology and machines with the help of which vaccine doses can be prepared in a very short time.

According to the company, if everything goes well, initial production can be started within 20 to 30 days. Just as India had given a large quantity of vaccines to the world during the Covid pandemic, similarly India can now emerge as a reliable partner in the Ebola crisis too. Besides, it also shows the medical and biotech strength of India.

Also read: Jabalpur Paneer Incident: Children reached ICU after eating paneer in dinner! Before buying cheese in summer, check its quality like this.

Challenge of time and security before scientists

At present, the biggest challenge facing scientists is time. Two vaccine candidates are being worked on for the Bundibugyo strain. The first is based on rVSV technology, which uses the same technology as the already existing Ervebo vaccine, but its problem is that its dose is not yet available and it may take several months to prepare. On the other hand, the specialty of ChAdOx platform is its fast production capacity because it has been used on a large scale during the time of Covid, hence its factory system is already ready. However, it also has a weakness. Till now, this vaccine has not been fully tested against Bundibugyo virus on animals or humans. In such a situation, health agencies will have to take a very careful decision whether to give priority to speedy testing or wait for a longer trial. This decision can decide the safety of millions of people in the future.

India became the hope of the world

This Ebola crisis spreading in Africa is a warning to the whole world that the epidemic can come back any time. Additionally, it becomes even more difficult to prevent disease in areas suffering from conflict and poverty. At such a time, India’s entry has emerged as a new ray of hope. If Serum Institute and its partners are successful in preparing a safe and effective vaccine soon, it can save the lives of thousands of people. At the same time, it will be proved that India has the ability to help not only in its own health crisis but also in the health crisis of the entire world. The next few months will be very important, because they will decide how quickly the world can stop this new Ebola threat.

Vitamin D Benefits: Earlier, the risk of cancer was seen only in older people, but in today’s time, everyone, whether children or youth, is falling prey to it. At the same time, chemotherapy is a common treatment for cancer, but its results are not the same in every patient. Meanwhile, a new study has shown a ray of hope. Research has revealed that the dose of a particular vitamin can reduce the risk of death from cancer to a great extent. The special thing is that it is not expensive like chemotherapy, but it is easily available Vitamin D. Scientists believe that taking Vitamin D in the right quantity strengthens the immunity in the body, which can provide better results in the treatment of diseases like cancer.

Big revelation in Brazilian research

A research regarding this was done at Sao Paulo State University of Brazil. In this research, 80 women above 45 years of age suffering from blood cancer, who were about to undergo chemotherapy, were included. For research, women were divided into two groups, in which one group was given 2,000 IU of Vitamin D daily. On the other hand, the second group was given placebo pills, that is, ineffective pills. After this process of 6 months, the result that came surprised even all the scientists.

Also read: Office tea-coffee and AC air are making you sick, increasing the risk of kidney damage.

Better effect seen in women taking Vitamin D

He found in this study that among the women who were given vitamin D pills, 43 percent of the women had no cancer symptoms after chemotherapy. At the same time, the figure of women of the second group was only 24 percent. This revealed that Vitamin D can play a helpful role in the treatment of cancer.

Results improved due to increase in Vitamin D in the body

During the research, it was also revealed that the women who were given Vitamin D tablets were already deficient in Vitamin D in their bodies. At the same time, as the level of Vitamin D in his body increased during treatment, his results also started improving. In such a situation, it cannot be wrong to say that Vitamin D is essential not only for cancer patients but for every person. Besides, it is important to take care of security also. Taking it in excessive amounts can also be harmful. Taking it in excessive amounts can cause problems like vomiting, weakness, and kidney problems. In such a situation, it should not be consumed in large quantities without consulting a doctor.

Still more research is needed

This study suggests that vitamin D may help chemotherapy work better and may be a cheaper and easier method, but it is not yet considered a completely proven treatment. In such a situation, more research is needed on this. Scientists believe that the initial results are good, but it is not yet clear whether vitamin D alone was the cause of the benefit. There may be other reasons behind this also. In further research, an attempt will be made to understand how Vitamin D works in combination with chemotherapy.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly increasing its interference in every field today. The medical sector is also not left from this. While AI is considered to be the future of diagnosis and disease management, a new study published in the LANCET journal has pointed to a serious threat. According to this report, the dependence on AI-based tools can weaken the skills of doctors. That is, the technique with which the treatment of patients should be easy, can also gradually eliminate the capacity of doctors.

Doctors affect skills

The study made at four colonoscopy centers in Poland found that AI assisted diagnosis declined by the ‘Adenoma Detection Rate’ of doctors (adenoma detection rate ie diseases like cancer). According to the data, where the adenoma was being detected in 28 cases without the help of AI earlier, it was reduced to 22 percent after depending on AI. That is, a reduction of about 20 percent. This means that doctors can lose their clinical judgment and diagnosis capacity by constantly depending on AI.

Why is this danger happening?

Experts believe that when a doctor gets constant solution and decorations, their ability to think and analyze themselves decreases. This situation in the health sector is even more dangerous, because the wrong diagnosis here can have a direct impact on the patient’s life. Researchers say that if this trend increases, in the coming time, doctors will depend only on AI and their own professional skills will fall behind.

What are experts saying?

Dr. Marsin Rauomarsxic of Poland involved in the study says that we have to understand which factors are increasing this problem. At the same time, Professor Yuchi Mori of the University of Oslo said that if the doctors use AI continuously, then they themselves can be less motivated, less focused and less responsible. That is, instead of saving the lives of patients, doctors will close their eyes on technology and start trusting.

Big alarm for india

In countries like India, where there is already a lack of doctors and health infrastructure, more dependence on AI can make the situation even more difficult. Dr. Vidur Mahajan, who is the CEO of Carpl.AI, says that we have to pay attention to both the advantages and disadvantages of increasing use of AI. It is necessary to adopt AI technology, but at the same time doctors’ training and practical skills have to be strengthened.

This report of the Lancet is a major warning that if AI is not used in a balanced manner, then the skills of doctors in the health sector can gradually end. It is necessary to use AI as an assistant and not to be completely dependent. Otherwise, the day is not far when doctors will only work on the decisions of machines and the lives of patients will be in danger.

Uterine Cancer: A new report has revealed that many women suffering from uterine cancer are not being properly examined by a genetic condition called Linch syndrome. This condition increases the risk of not only uterus, but also to intestinal cancer.

Lynch syndrome: severe but unseen danger

Lynch syndrome affects one of every 300 person, but surprisingly only 5% of people know about it. This is a genetic condition that makes the person more sensitive to cancer of the uterus and colon (large intestine).

Life can be found on time with time

Experts from the University of Edinburgh say that due to the timely identification of this syndrome, patients can improve their health and take necessary steps to prevent cancer. Also, the expenditure on treatment can also be reduced to a great extent.

Flaws of investigation system found in research

According to the research published in the BMG Oncology Journal, more than 2,500 uterine cancer cases were research in the UK and Ireland between 2022 and 2023. It was found that in 91% of cases, tumors were examined for symptoms of lynch syndrome, but the results of the investigation did not reach the entire team of doctors. As a result, the process of essential genetic counseling and blood test remained incomplete.

Incomplete procedure, incomplete identity

Of the patients who needed genetic counseling, only two-thirds were sent for this, and only 48% of the patients could be examined due to the long waiting list. The direct effect of this was that in many patients, lynch syndrome could not be identified and their risk of cancer was increased.

Awareness and better arrangement needed

Dr. Neel Ryan, Clinical Lecturer of Center for Reproductive Health, University of Edinburgh said, “Despite the good guidelines and check rates, the whole process becomes useless if the patients are not sent on time for a blood test. It is a big threat not only for the patient, but also for their family.

Researchers say that if it is identified on time, then measures such as aspirin, regular colonoscopy and hysterctomy can reduce the risk of cancer in the future to a great extent.
