He said, “If someone is guilty then he should be punished, but the common Kashmiri people should not be treated harshly.” Expressing condolences to the family of State Investigation Agency (SIA) Inspector Asrar, the PDP President said that an incident like Naugam should not have happened. He said, “People, especially policemen, lost their lives in this incident. Kashmir is currently going through an atmosphere of anxiety and fear. There should have been experts to handle ammonium nitrate. It was dangerous for policemen or common people to handle it.”

‘Why was 3000 kg ammonium nitrate brought?’

Mehbooba Mufti further said that those who lost their lives have small children and the entire Kashmir stands with them in their grief. He demanded a comprehensive investigation into the Naugam blast and said that answers to many serious questions were necessary. He asked, “Why was nearly 3,000 kg of ammonium nitrate brought here? Why was it kept in a police station surrounded by a residential area?”

Demand to give bravery award to those who lost their lives in Naugam

He also raised the question, “Why were Naib Tehsildars or policemen given the responsibility to handle this, when they had no experience in it?” Mufti appealed to the government to take special care of the affected families and demanded the highest gallantry award for those who lost their lives in the incident.

‘Need to normalize the situation to remove unemployment’

Mehbooba Mufti appeared in favor of the sports competition between India and Pakistan. He said that if you want to maintain peace and do not want to spend money on war, then there should be sports competitions between India and Pakistan.
