There is even a saying in India that &#8216;what is sowat is khowat, what is the world is pawat&#8217;. This means that a lazy person loses opportunities whereas a hardworking person becomes successful.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">However, in Indian homes this proverb is linked to sleep, so that children sleep less and concentrate more on their studies. Many researches and reports believe that good sleep of children or students makes them more efficient in studies and their memory also remains healthy. That is why many big and prominent neuroscientists have called sleep the “hidden superpower of students”.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">MIT study: Real benefits of sleep during exams</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A study by MIT (which was published in npj Science of Learning) revealed a surprising thing that if a student takes good and proper sleep during his exam, then that student is not wasting his time but good sleep will help that student to focus on studies. Research has shown that studying one night before an exam or a long sleep is not as useful for students as good sleep for the whole month.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Singapore study: good sleep and mental health</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In a research published in Frontiers in Psychology, a study was conducted on Singapore students, in which it was found that students who get good sleep have better mental development. In those students, there is much less anxiety regarding studies, the mood remains stable and the mind remains calm. It is natural that if the mental health of a student is better then his performance in studies will also improve. If a student does not get good quality sleep, his mental health remains poor, making it difficult to perform better in studies.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Body clock and the role of circadian preference</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a research, the better performance of a student also depends on whether the student wakes up early in the morning to work or works better by staying awake at night. This is called the natural body clock or circadian preference. When a student has to study or attend classes at a time that does not match his nature, his brain does not function properly and hence his performance falls.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Carnegie Mellon report: Less gold loss</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a study by Carnegie Mellon University, if a student sleeps less than 6 hours to improve his studies and perform well in the exam, then a “Sleep Debt” starts accumulating in his brain, due to which it becomes very difficult to perform better in studies and give his 100 percent in any work. The student&#8217;s concentration in studies, his memory and thinking ability all begin to weaken.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Power Nap: Instant Energy for the Brain</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It has been proved in many researches that if a student takes a power nap in between his long hours of study, then the brain gets instant energy. This freshens the mood, increases creative thinking and increases focus in subjects like mathematics and science. Apart from this, memory becomes stronger. Therefore, taking a power nap of half an hour in between studies is necessary for the better performance of the student.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Till now we have believed that memory is only a function of the brain. But now a new research has completely changed this thinking. A special study by New York University scientist Dr. Nikolai Kukushkin has made a shocking claim that our memory is not limited to the brain only, but memory-like processes also occur in the cells of the kidney, skin and other organs.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This research has been published in the famous scientific journal Nature Communication. It has been told that the non-neural cells of our body, such as kidney cells, also have the ability to remember some information, just like neurons do. So let us know what is the shocking claim in the research. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What is the shocking claim in the research?</strong><br />Dr. Kukushkin and his team conducted a special research in which the focus was on non-neural cells of the body. They found that when chemical signals were given to these cells, these cells also started activating memory genes, just like brain cells do. This means that the cells of different parts of our body can also remember things in their own way. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>How was this study done?</strong><br />In this research, scientists inserted a reporter gene inside the cells. This reporter gene starts glowing when the gene related to memory is active, then they give chemical signals to the cells in two ways. Some cells were given signals repeatedly and continuously, while some cells were given signals at short intervals. After the results, it was found that the cells which were given signals at short intervals, kept the memory gene active for a long time, whereas the same effect was not seen when signals were given continuously. A special psychological process was brought to light in this research. Which is called Massive-Spaced Effect. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What is Massive-Spaced Effect?</strong><br />Massive-Spaced Effect means that if any information is given at short intervals instead of all at once, it is remembered better. Earlier this process was thought to apply only to the brain, but now it has become clear that this effect also affects other cells of the body. Till now, diseases like Alzheimer&#8217;s were considered to be only a problem of the brain, but now if the cells of kidney or other organs are also linked to memory, then new avenues of treatment can open. At the same time, if the information given at short intervals is more effective, then the method of study can also be changed. On the basis of this research, new teaching techniques can be adopted in schools and coaching. </p>

<p>Experts warns that lack of sleep can also increase the risk of serious diseases like dementia in the long run. In such a situation, today we tell you how our brain is getting old before time. </p>
<p><strong>Lack of sleep is the biggest reason</strong></p>
<p>A recent research has revealed that lack of sleep is the main reason for the brain being old before the time. Actually, sleep gives the brain an opportunity to protect and repair. Not taking enough and good amount of sleep increases chronic inflammation in the body, which directly affects the brain cells i.e. neurons. At the same time, poor sleep for a long time damages the brain cells and the brain gets old quickly. </p>
<p><strong>What came up in research </strong></p>
<p>In the research conducted on the old age of the brain, more than 27,000 people were examined and the age of the brain was estimated through their brain scans. In this research, people who neither get less sleep and do not sleep, their mind was found to be about 0.6 years older than their real age. At the same time, such people who never sleep completely, their brain was found to be 1 year older than their real age. Apart from this, the researchers also prepared a sleep score. Due to the decline of every digit in this score, the brain age increases by about half a year. </p>
<p><strong>Experts advice </strong></p>
<p>Regarding this research, experts say that taking good and regular sleep is the most effective way to keep the mind young. If the problem of sleep is ignored, then it can increase the risk of serious mental illnesses in future. Apart from this, experts tell that to get good sleep, make a habit of sleeping and waking up at the same time daily. At the same time, reduce the use of mobile, TV and laptop at least 1 hour before sleeping and avoid eating or drinking caffeine -rich things at night. Apart from this, do mild exercise yoga or meditation to reduce the fatigue and stress of the day.</p>
