Taking a major initiative in mental health services, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital in the capital Delhi have started free neuromodulation treatment. This step has brought hope for such patients who do not get adequate benefit from conventional medicines or counseling.

Will get benefit in many serious mental diseases

The Department of Psychiatry of Safdarjung Hospital started free services equipped with modern technologies like Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy (mECT) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) on 6 December 2025. These treatments are considered especially effective for patients who do not see improvement despite medications.

New hope for these patients

According to experts, the new services can be extremely effective in many mental illnesses including severe depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia. Often such patients require alternative techniques along with medicine and counselling, which Safdarjung Hospital will now provide free of cost.

Government’s mental health mission will also be strengthened

The hospital management says that this initiative is not only an expansion of services, but also a concrete step towards strengthening a sensitive and equal opportunity based health system. This initiative also strengthens the efforts of the Central Government, which aim to make mental health services accessible across the country.

Financial condition will no longer be a hindrance in treatment

VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital have been working for a long time on this mission that no patient is deprived of treatment due to financial reasons. The launch of neuromodulation services further strengthens this commitment, especially for those patients who cannot afford expensive treatments.

These officers were present

Director Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Charu Bamba and Head of Psychiatry Department Dr. Pankaj Verma were present in the inauguration ceremony. Officials appreciated this initiative and called it a big relief step for the patients. He said that making modern, evidence-based therapy available to the public at no charge is a significant change in the mental health field.

Whenever children study, parents motivate them by telling them to reduce their sleep and work harder until they achieve their goal, so that they can be successful in the future. There is even a saying in India that ‘what is sowat is khowat, what is the world is pawat’. This means that a lazy person loses opportunities whereas a hardworking person becomes successful.

However, in Indian homes this proverb is linked to sleep, so that children sleep less and concentrate more on their studies. Many researches and reports believe that good sleep of children or students makes them more efficient in studies and their memory also remains healthy. That is why many big and prominent neuroscientists have called sleep the “hidden superpower of students”.

MIT study: Real benefits of sleep during exams

A study by MIT (which was published in npj Science of Learning) revealed a surprising thing that if a student takes good and proper sleep during his exam, then that student is not wasting his time but good sleep will help that student to focus on studies. Research has shown that studying one night before an exam or a long sleep is not as useful for students as good sleep for the whole month.

Singapore study: good sleep and mental health

In a research published in Frontiers in Psychology, a study was conducted on Singapore students, in which it was found that students who get good sleep have better mental development. In those students, there is much less anxiety regarding studies, the mood remains stable and the mind remains calm. It is natural that if the mental health of a student is better then his performance in studies will also improve. If a student does not get good quality sleep, his mental health remains poor, making it difficult to perform better in studies.

Body clock and the role of circadian preference

According to a research, the better performance of a student also depends on whether the student wakes up early in the morning to work or works better by staying awake at night. This is called the natural body clock or circadian preference. When a student has to study or attend classes at a time that does not match his nature, his brain does not function properly and hence his performance falls.

Carnegie Mellon report: Less gold loss

According to a study by Carnegie Mellon University, if a student sleeps less than 6 hours to improve his studies and perform well in the exam, then a “Sleep Debt” starts accumulating in his brain, due to which it becomes very difficult to perform better in studies and give his 100 percent in any work. The student’s concentration in studies, his memory and thinking ability all begin to weaken.

Power Nap: Instant Energy for the Brain

It has been proved in many researches that if a student takes a power nap in between his long hours of study, then the brain gets instant energy. This freshens the mood, increases creative thinking and increases focus in subjects like mathematics and science. Apart from this, memory becomes stronger. Therefore, taking a power nap of half an hour in between studies is necessary for the better performance of the student.

In today’s digital age, social media has become a part of our everyday life. From waking up in the morning till sleeping at night, we often remain lost in the mobile screen. Sometimes watching reels, sometimes liking posts and sometimes just scrolling without any reason. As much as we think that social media relaxes us, in reality its excessive use can take a toll on our mental health.

A recent research published in JAMA Network Open further strengthened these concerns. The study found that by staying away from social media for just seven days, symptoms of depression in young people reduced by 24 percent. Not only this, anxiety reduced by 16.1 percent and sleep related disorders like insomnia also improved by about 14.5 percent. In such a situation, if you also feel that social media is tiring you or affecting your sleep, then definitely try a 7-day social media detox. So let’s know the 7-day step-by-step social media detox plan, which can bring a big change in your mental health.

7 day social media detox plan

1. First day – Set your goal clearly. For this, first of all ask yourself why you want to take a break from social media. Take some time and write on a paper what you want to achieve from detox. Like more focus, better sleep, less stress etc. By writing goals the mind automatically gets ready for detox.

2. Second day – Turn off notifications. Social media notifications force us to pick up our mobile phones again and again. Stop notifications of all social media apps on this day. If possible, remove apps from the home screen and put them in a folder inside, so that the habit of opening them becomes less.

3. Third day – Incorporate Healthy Habits In the time you used to spend scrolling, adopt some positive habits. Like reading a book, some exercise, cooking and giving time to some hobby. Gradually the mind will move away from scrolling and start liking these good activities.

4. Fourth day – Connect with offline life. Stay away from screens as much as possible on this day. Go for a walk, sit in the park, eat food without mobile, spend time with family. Doing this reduces digital overload on the brain and improves mood.

5. Fifth day – Sit quietly for a few minutes, take deep breaths and feel how distance from social media feels to you. Write a short note. Like how did you feel today, what seemed easy and what seemed difficult. This journaling will help you understand your changes.

6. Sixth day – Meet your people. When we use social media less, we free up time for real-world relationships. Meet friends, family or colleagues on this day. Talk to them, spend time with them. Real life relationships strengthen your emotional health.

7. Seventh day – Review the entire week. Now think what this 7 day detox gave you. Did your mood feel lighter, did your sleep improve, did you concentrate more? Based on this review, decide which habits to continue in the future, so that your life remains more balanced.

Read also There is a wedding in the house in the coming days and you will not get enough sleep, so prepare your ‘sleep bank’ from now on.

In today’s time, masturbation is a topic on which people do not talk openly. Due to shyness, hesitation and misconceptions, most people are not able to gather correct information about it. But the truth is that masturbation is a completely normal, natural and safe process, which almost every person around the world does at some point in their life.

Masturbation reduces stress, improves mood and helps in understanding your body. But like anything, its excessive use can also cause harm. Many people want to know how many times a day it is okay to masturbate, whether doing too much causes weakness and whether it affects fertility. So let us know how many times a day you can masturbate and what are the advantages and disadvantages of it.

How many times a day can you masturbate?

Masturbation means activating your private parts yourself. There is no fixed number of times to do this, like 1 time, 2 times or 3 times, it depends on every person. It depends on his age, body energy, sexual desire, mental and physical condition. But masturbation is normal as long as it does not affect your routine. That is: there should be no pain or burning sensation in the body, sleep, relationships or lifestyle should not be disturbed, you should not be able to stop it. Generally, doing it 1-2 times a day is considered normal, but more often than this is fine only if you do not have pain, fatigue or mental problems.

Benefits of masturbation

1. Reduces stress and tension – When you masturbate, hormones are released in the body that give happiness and comfort. This lightens the mind and reduces stress.

2. Get good sleep – After doing this, the body gets relaxed, due to which sleep comes quickly and well.

3. Help in knowing your body – You get to understand what kind of activity you like. It also improves future life.

4. Sexual health remains good – Masturbation increases blood circulation in the genitals, which improves sexual ability.

5. Mood is good – Happy hormones like dopamine and serotonin are released, which improve the mood.

6. Some help to the immune system – Some research suggests that it increases antibodies called IgA, which help the body fight infection.

7. Benefits for prostate health – According to some studies, regular masturbation can slightly reduce the risk of prostate problems.

Disadvantages of excessive masturbation

When masturbation becomes a habit or compulsion, then it can cause harm. Repeatedly doing this can make the body feel tired. Sometimes there may also be pain in the genitals. Doing too much can make the mind feel dull or heavy. Some people feel guilty after misunderstanding it. This may increase mental stress.

Fear of Ants: There are many people who are afraid of many things. For example, some people are afraid of lizards, some of snakes, some of other things. But do you know that some people are also afraid of ants? It sounds a bit strange and like movie stories that people are afraid of ants, but it is true that some people are afraid of ants and the reason for this is nothing else but the lack of some vitamins in their body. Come, let us tell you about it in detail.

What is the matter?

Actually, a shocking incident came to light from Sangareddy district of Telangana, where a 25 year old woman committed suicide due to fear of ants. This incident happened on 4 November. According to the police, the woman was afraid of ants since childhood. He had also been counseled regarding this in his native village. The woman also wrote a letter before suicide, in which she wrote, ‘I am sorry that I cannot live with these ants. Take care of your daughter. Be careful.”

Why are you afraid of ants?

This type of disease is called myrmecophobia. This is a kind of specific phobia, in which the person feels extreme fear or panic from ants. This fear is so great that the person becomes restless even thinking about ants. In some cases, people avoid going around ants and are even afraid of eating outside or going to gardens. People who are afraid of ants show many physical and mental symptoms, such as a rapid heartbeat, sweating or trembling, and running away from places or things associated with ants.

Deficiency of which vitamin causes this?

There is no concrete evidence yet as to which vitamins cause this, but it has been mentioned in many places that it could be due to deficiency of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps in keeping the nervous system strong. Due to its deficiency, a person may have mental problems like fatigue, weakness, amnesia and fear. When the nervous system becomes weak, even small things can cause fear.

As we age, many changes occur in the body. Many people think that these changes...

As we age, many changes occur in the body. Many people think that these changes are only due to wrinkles, weight gain or our genetics. Along with this, the risk of long-term diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, cancer and dementia also increases with increasing age, but by adopting the right habits and lifestyle, we can expect a healthy and active old age.

However, it is also very important to know the misconceptions related to aging. Dr. Sanjay Bhojraj, doctor of functional medicine and cardiologist, recently shared on Instagram that people get trapped in three big misconceptions regarding aging. He says that if we avoid these misconceptions and adopt right habits, then the effects of aging can be controlled to a great extent. So let us know what are the common misconceptions about aging.

1. Aging is just about wrinkles or genetics – Most people believe that symptoms of aging like wrinkles, increased body weight or slow metabolism completely depend on our genes. According to Dr. Bhojraj, this is not at all the case. After years of working on the heart and studying patients, it became clear that our life habits, eating habits, exercise and mental state greatly affect our body and the aging process.

2. Heart shows your age first – Most people think that age is reflected only in external changes, such as facial wrinkles or graying of hair. Whereas the truth is that your heart and blood cells already tell your actual health and age. If you ignore heart health, you may unknowingly increase the age of your body.

3. Small habits also play a big role – Often people think that aging is only due to diet or that everything will be fine by eating healthy food or doing exercise occasionally. But Dr. Bhojraj says that everyday habits, which we consider normal and healthy, can affect our cells, arteries and energy levels. This is why regular lifestyle and small habits can slow or speed up the aging process.

Habits to maintain longevity and health

1. Do exercise daily – Light or vigorous exercise, whether walking, yoga, or gym, keeps the heart and muscles strong.

2. Take a balanced and healthy diet – Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and proteins are very important for the heart and metabolism.

3. Take maximum rest and sleep – Sleep is important not only for mental health but also for repairing the body and maintaining energy.

4. Maintain relationships – Social engagement and relationships with family or friends enhance mental health and quality of life.

5. Include heat therapy or sauna – It promotes blood flow and can be beneficial for the heart and arteries.

Read also The risk of cancer increases 150 times in children of fathers with low sperm count, this study will surprise you

The increasing air quality index in Delhi NCR has now become a cause of serious concern. The poisonous air of Delhi is no longer limited only to the lungs but its effect has started appearing on other parts of the body as well. According to reports, pollution in Delhi NCR can also cause autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. In such a situation, let us tell you today how the poisonous air of Delhi NCR is affecting not only the lungs but also the brain and heart.

Delhi’s air increases risk to heart health

Looking at the poisonous air of Delhi, experts say that small particles like PM 2.5 present in the polluted air enter the blood and cause swelling in the veins. At the same time, this swelling causes the formation of blood clot, due to which the risk of heart attack increases manifold. Experts say that for people who already have the problem of high blood pressure or clogged arteries, this pollution can prove to be more dangerous. In such a situation, experts also say that to protect the heart from the effects of pollution, it is necessary to reduce exposure to air among people, promote clean air initiatives, and create awareness about heart health.

Effect on brain and mental health also

The poisonous air of Delhi is now having a bad effect not only on the lungs but also on mental health. According to experts, prolonged exposure to poisonous air can have dangerous effects on the brain. Pollution can cause neuroinflammation i.e. swelling in the brain, due to which neuron connections become weak. The balance of neurotransmitters deteriorates and the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s increases. Experts say that poisonous air increases oxidative stress, which affects memory, attention and decision-making ability. However, this condition can become more serious in children because their brain is growing at this time. In such a situation, neurological diseases like autism spectrum disorder and ADHD can increase in children due to polluted air.

Risk of depression and suicide is also increasing

Experts say that people who have been living in areas with high levels of pollution for the last 5 years, symptoms like depression and suicidal thoughts and decline in the quality of life are increasing. Experts say that children especially are at greater risk because pollution has a direct impact on their developing brain. This increases the risk of depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and suicidal thoughts.

OpenAI recently released a report, in which it was told that millions of users are talking to ChatGPT about mental health related problems. According to the report, every week about 0.15% users share dangerous thoughts like suicide in chat. Out of the approximately 80 crore weekly active users of ChatGPT, this number is considered quite large. Many users also feel an emotional connection with the chatbot, which may be a sign of mental instability.

OpenAI said that ChatGPT has been trained with the advice of more than 170 experts to give accurate and sensitive answers to questions related to mental health. The new model gives the correct answer in 91% of the cases compared to the old one, whereas earlier this figure was 77%. The company says that now ChatGPT maintains security even during long conversations.

A case was registered after the death of a 16 year old boy.

Recently, a case has been filed against OpenAI after the suicide of a 16-year-old boy, who had shared his thoughts with ChatGPT before dying. After this, the American states California and Delaware warned the company that it would have to ensure the safety of the users. For this reason, OpenAI has now added features like parental control and identification of minors.

Big revelation in research

Research has also found that chatbots can sometimes negatively impact mentally weak users. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman claims that the company is developing ChatGPT in such a way that it proves helpful in mental health, but experts say that these security features are currently available only to paid users.
