Argentina’s legendary footballer Lionel Messi has come to India after 14 years. Messi will visit 4 cities on his three-day Indian tour. He came to Kolkata, then went to Hyderabad, Mumbai and finally Delhi. Messi also unveiled his 70 feet high monument today i.e. on 13 December. 1. Lionel Messi reached Kolkata Airport at 2:30 pm on Saturday, 13 December. He was given a grand welcome at the airport, musical instruments were played and the fans chanted Messi! Slogans of Messi were also raised. Along with him, Luis Suarez and Argentinian team’s midfielder Rodrigo de Paul also came to India. Messi reached Hyatt Regency, where he was staying in room number 730.

2. Messi started GOAT Tour with sponsors meet and greet. He then reached Salt Lake Stadium, where he unveiled his 70 feet high monument. During this, West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas and organizer Satadru Dutta were also present along with Messi.

3. When Messi unveiled his monument at the Salt Lake Stadium, he met Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan. However, Shahrukh did not go with Messi on the field.

4. Lionel Messi did not stay at Salt Lake Stadium for long. Fans told that when Messi came to the field, there were too many people around him, due to which it became almost impossible to see him. Due to this, disappointed fans started throwing bottles on the field. After Messi left the field, people entered the field in large numbers.

5. Since Lionel Messi had left the field prematurely, he could not meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

6. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologized for the incident that happened at Salt Lake Stadium. Mamta Banerjee said through social media, “I wholeheartedly apologize to Lionel Messi, all sports fans and Messi’s fans.”

7. Kolkata Police DGP Rajeev Kumar said that organizer Satadru Dutta has given a written assurance that he will refund all the money given to the fans for the event at Salt Lake Stadium. An organizer has also been arrested.

8. Lionel Messi reached Hyderabad at around 6 pm. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed Messi at Falaknuma Palace. After the Kolkata incident, the security of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad was already increased. Messi was to reach the stadium as per schedule at 7 o’clock, but he was delayed in reaching the stadium.

9. Messi will reach Mumbai on 14 December. Will attend a fashion show at the Cricket Club of India, a celebrity football match will be played and will also attend a coaching clinic. He will reach a program organized at Wankhede Stadium. It is being told that Sachin Tendulkar can also meet Messi during the celebrity match. John Abraham, Kareena Kapoor and Jackie Shroff can come to the fashion show.

10. Lionel Messi will visit Delhi on 15th December, where he will be a part of an event organized at Arun Jaitley Stadium. A coaching session has also been scheduled for the youth. On December 15, Messi will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

What should have been a memorable day for football fans in the ‘City of Joy’ turned into a nightmare. Messi’s presence caused more chaos due to the chaos inside the stadium. The situation went out of control as soon as Messi entered the field. Due to the chaos, the event was stopped midway, due to which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who were present at the stadium for the event, could not meet the legendary football player.
