Thousands of employees in danger due to possible layoff

According to corporate filings, as of December 31, 2025, about 79,000 people were working in the company. In such a situation, if the company cuts its workforce by about 20 percent, then the jobs of about 16,000 employees may be in danger.

If this plan is implemented, it will be considered the biggest layoff of the company after the large-scale restructuring done during 2022–23. At present this step is being considered probable and the final decision is yet to be known.

The company has already retrenched a large number of employees. In November 2022, the company had shown the way out to about 11,000 employees, which was about 13 percent of its total workforce at that time. Now once again the possibility of mass layoffs is being discussed.

The company is betting on AI

Meta has been trying to move forward in the field of AI for the last one year. For this, the company has included many top AI researchers in its superintelligence team. According to the information, he has been offered a good package.

From which it can be estimated about the future direction of the company that the company is placing its bets on AI. Besides, the company is also planning to spend about $600 billion for data center construction by 2028.
