The world’s legendary tech company Microsoft is once again preparing to lay down the employees on a large scale. This time the most impact is going to be on the company’s sales and marketing divisions.

According to reports, Microsoft can announce the availability of thousands of employees from the job earlier this month. This decision is coming at a time when the company is investing heavily in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is rectifying its internal structure again.

Top officer on leave

The company’s top sales executive Jadson Altoff has announced to go to an eight -week leave just before the trithan announcement. According to Bloomberg’s report, Microsoft has confirmed that Jadson Altoff, who is the Chief Commercial Officer of the company, will return after completing his holiday in September. A spokesman for the company has said that this holiday was already decided and a plan has been made according to the internal calendar of Microsoft.

This action will be the third trim of this year

Let us know that this will be the third major trim of this year for Microsoft. In May, the company trimmed about 6,000 employees and after a few weeks, more than 300 more people went to jobs. Now once again the company is going to start a new round of retrenchment in July, with the start of the new financial year.

This time the most impact will be affected by customer-faceing, ie customers having direct contact with customers. In the earlier two priests, where most of the software engineers and product developers were affected, this time teams related to sales and marketing will be the most affected. In Microsoft, about 45,000 employees work in sales and marketing divisions, while the total workforce of the company was around 2.28 lakhs as of June 2024.

Pointing to changing business model

In April this year, Microsoft had indicated that it will now do the work of selling software to small and mid-size business customers through third party agencies. It was clear from this that the company is moving towards shortening its customer-port and sales networks. According to the report of Bloomberg, although this trimming will not be limited to the sales team only, but the most impact will be on this department.

This move of Microsoft is considered part of its long -term strategy, in which the company wants to focus more on techniques like AI and automation. In such a situation, it can be considered another step towards limiting the role of human resources.

Microsoft News: Legendary tech company Microsoft has given a big blow to Pakistan. The company has decided to stop its operation in Pakistan after 25 years. The company started working in Pakistan in the year 2000. Microsoft’s full corporate office has ever been in Pakistan, but Microsoft has a strong presence in Pakistan’s enterprises, education and government sectors.

Microsoft works in Pakistan

In the field of education, the company has partnered with institutions like Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Punjab Group of College (PGC) to provide training of digital skills and remote learning through platforms like Microsoft Teams. In the government sector, Microsoft has provided technology solutions to more than 200 Higher Education Institutions. Apart from this, Microsoft has also been involved in initiatives like building training centers and offering online courses.

Why did the company take a big decision?

Jawad Rahman, former Country Manager of Microsoft Pakistan, says that this decision of the company is related to business. Jawad, who was associated with the company from 2000 to 2007, says that this decision of the company indicates that big companies are finding difficulties in working in the current environment of Pakistan.

Former President Arif Alvi expressed concern

Former President Arif Alvi also described this decision of the company as worrying for the future of Pakistan. He claimed that due to political instability, economic instability, repeated change of government, the deteriorating law and order, unstable currency and complex trade policies, companies are finding it difficult to work in Pakistan.

Here, according to Theregister.com, a Microsoft spokesperson says that the company is making changes in its operating model in Pakistan. However, he has also informed about the effect of this change on the company’s services and customer agreement.

Microsoft Layoffs: One of the world’s well-known tech companies is American company Microsoft. IT professionals have a big dream to work here. But now Microsoft is now engaged in snatching the upside job from them instead of giving jobs to people in this changing era of AI. The employees are now bringing the streets. After showing the way out to 6000 employees last month, Microsoft has started the process of second round to exclude more than 300 people from the job.

Another big trimming

According to Bloomberg’s report, Microsoft is going to take these steps to operate the company’s work smoothly. However, the situation will not be clear about which department will be evacuated from which department after the biggest pruning ever so far, nor is it clear which department will affect the company’s move. A Microsoft spokesperson said that the company continues to make institutional changes to improve itself according to the market.

Help will be taken from AI

It is worth noting that while Microsoft has announced a cut in its work force on the one hand, on the other hand, by investing in AI, help is being taken in coding and other technical work.

According to the data of June 2024, this American tech company had 2,28,800 full time employees. About half of them were working in America. In such a situation, this is a clear indication from Microsoft that in this era of AI, the company is doing its entire focus on the growth of the company. Also, the tradition is going to get up from the role and become more dependent on technology.

If you have been working in a company for 25 years and suddenly you are thrown out of the company one day, then how will you feel. One such incident remains a matter of discussion on social media these days. The biggest thing is that this time the pain of getting out of the job has not been told by the employee himself, but his wife has expressed it.

What is the whole matter?

Posting on the social media platform reddit, a woman wrote, “My husband worked for 25 years in Microsoft. Never taken a holiday, even worked from home even when he was ill. He helped her colleagues one day and night, he took an on-call shift on festivals, never asked for promotion … But now a computer algorithm took them out.”

According to the woman, her husband is struggling with autism and she also has multiple sclerosis. Despite this, he never lagged behind his responsibilities. But his service suddenly ended with the “random selection” of an algorithm and that too just before his 48th birthday.

Microsoft’s big trimming

In fact, on 13 May 2025, Microsoft pruning about 6,000 employees. According to the company, this decision was taken to increase its AI investment and remove the ‘unnecessary management layer’. This was the second largest pruning in the history of Microsoft. Over 2,000 people lost jobs in the US state of Washington alone. The company says that it wants the employee to focus on more valu-edited works.

AI director also out

Microsoft’s AI Director, Gabriela de Queiroz, was also shown the way out in this trimming. He wrote on X that he is in a heart-breaking situation with this news, but he attended the meeting on the go and said goodbye to everyone. He said that even though his job went away, his optimistic thinking is still alive. He wrote, “There is a gift every day and I still know to smile.”

“No cost of loyalty”

After this retrenchment, Microsoft was fiercely criticized on social media. Many users said that this incident is proof that now there is no use of having emotional connection with a company. A user raised the question, “Did the algorithm targe those who have crossed the age of 40 or who have more health insurance expenses on the company?”

AI’s increasing interference, decreasing importance of humans?

Microsoft argues that the company wants to include more AI in its products and services. CEO Satya Nadella recently said that 30 percent coding in some projects is now being done by AI and a VP asked to take this target up to 50 percent. This is the reason that engineers and senior teams were trimmed to even Leeds, so that machines could handle the works that humans were still doing.

Also read: Tsunami of Financial Crisis is going to come, Central Banks themselves will also drown! Robert Kyosaki’s big claim
