US Army launches new attacks in Southern Iran

According to Al Jazeera’s report, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued an official statement on Monday (May 25, 2026), saying, ‘The US military has carried out new strikes in southern Iran, targeting Iranian missile sites and boats that were reportedly trying to lay sea mines.’ CentCom said that these attacks were carried out in self-defense, so that US Army soldiers could be protected from threats from the Iranian Army.

IRGC shoots down American drone, opens fire on jet

On the other hand, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) that it has shot down an American drone. Along with this, firing was carried out on a jet and another drone, which had entered Iranian airspace. IRGC shared this information quoting Iran’s government media. The IRGC also said that its legitimate and definite right to respond to any violation of the ceasefire is fully reserved.

Talks continue between both sides after ceasefire, tension still persists

According to the report, on April 8 last month, America and Iran announced a temporary ceasefire amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, since then Iran has maintained control over ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the global oil and natural gas supply passes. On the other hand, the US Navy has imposed a similar blockade on Iran’s ports with the aim of causing financial loss to Iran.

At the same time, after the announcement of ceasefire, talks are going on between the two sides for a complete end to the war and a long-term ceasefire, but during this time, frequent military clashes are increasing the deep distrust between the two sides.
