The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has carried out large-scale air strikes on several Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Syria. This action was taken under Operation Hawkeye Strike, the objective of which was to completely destroy the terrorist network operating in the area.

Sharing information on social media platform X, CENTCOM said that the attack was carried out at around 12:30 pm American time. In these attacks, ISIS positions present in different areas of Syria were targeted.

Strong message against terrorism

According to CENTCOM, this operation is part of America’s continuing commitment against terrorism. The purpose of this action is to prevent terrorist attacks on American soldiers and allied forces, eliminate future threats, and ensure security in the region. CENTCOM said bluntly, ‘Anyone who tries to harm our soldiers will be found and eliminated in any corner of the world.’

Campaign started in response to Palmyra attack

Operation Hawkeye Strike was started on 19 December 2025 on the instructions of US President Donald Trump. This decision was taken after the ISIS attack in Palmyra, Syria on December 13, 2025, in which two American soldiers and one American citizen were killed. The soldiers killed were identified as Sergeant Edgar Brian Torres Tovar, 25, and Sergeant William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of the Iowa National Guard. Both of these soldiers were part of the US military team which was deployed in the Middle East earlier this year.

Use of more than 90 precision weapons

According to CNN report, more than 90 precision munitions were used during this military operation and more than 35 terrorist hideouts were targeted. More than two dozen fighter planes took part in the attacks. American officials say that this operation is part of the strategy to completely defeat ISIS under Operation Inherent Resolve. Experts believe that this action has dealt a major blow to the terrorist network operating in Syria and the number of such operations may increase in the coming days.

The exchange of hostages and prisoners between Israel and Hamas will take place today, Monday (October 13). Within a short time from now the hostages will be handed over to Israel. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the country’s military campaign is not over yet.

According to the report of news agency Xinhua, PM Netanyahu, in his televised address, described the release of the remaining 20 hostages as a historic event. He said, “Wherever we fought, we won but the campaign is not over yet.”

‘Israel still faces huge security challenges’
He warned while pledging to ensure the security of Israel. Netanyahu said that some of our enemies are trying to regroup. Along with this, he said that Israel still faces huge security challenges. Earlier, Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir said that the country has achieved victory over Hamas. This victory was achieved through a combination of sustained military pressure and diplomatic efforts.

According to US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, the Israel-Hamas ceasefire has come into effect on Friday. On the other hand, Gaza Peace Summit will be organized in Egypt on Monday. This meeting will be chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Fatah al-Sisi. Apart from this, US President Donald Trump will also visit Israel for just four hours.

It is clearly written in the book that this attack took place at the behest of Pakistan’s military and political leadership. However, Pakistan always denied its role in this attack, but evidence shows that this attack took place on its instigation. NCERT has tried to convince children that the neighboring country has been trying to spread unrest and instability in India for a long time. India has given appropriate reply to these efforts every time and has further strengthened its policy against terrorism.

After the Pahalgam attack, the way the people there raised their voice against terrorism, it has been highly praised. It is written in the book that the locals openly stood against the terrorists and proved that the real identity of Kashmir is not violence, but peace and brotherhood. This part teaches children how important unity and courage in society. This courage of the people of Kashmir has been introduced as an example in the module, which will become an inspiration for generations to come.
