The situation of minority Hindus living in Pakistan is not hidden from anyone. In many reports, the bad condition of minorities present in Pakistan has also been told. Which includes issues ranging from religious conversion to social oppression. In such a situation, many times the question is also raised that how the people of Hindu religion living in Pakistan perform the last rites. Is there a cremation ground there also? In such a situation, let us tell you today how the last rites of Hindus are performed in Pakistan and for which things one has to wait for a long time.

Status of minorities in Pakistan

Since the partition of India and Pakistan, the condition of minorities in Pakistan is said to be bad. The Hindu community faces the most harassment there. The largest cremation ground for Hindus in Pakistan is built for the people of Hindu religion in Lyari, a suburb of Karachi. Apart from this, the Government of Pakistan has given land to Hindus for cremation in some districts. But Hindus living in many cities including Karachi are not able to perform the last rites at the cremation grounds. The main reason for which is said to be the huge shortage and inflation of funeral items. For this reason, many times people of Hindu community bury people in Pakistan instead of burning them. Apart from Hindus, people of other religions also remain worried about the last rites in Pakistan. According to many reports, the Pakistani government may have given land to people of Christian, Punjabi and Hindu religions for cremation in some districts, but this space is very less in terms of population. In many areas, this place is so far away that it is difficult to take the dead body there. Even cremation material is not easily available in Pakistan. Apart from this, wood, ghee and other essential items are expensive, due to which Hindu families bury dead bodies instead of burning them.

How are Hindus buried in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, people of Hindu community do not bury this dead body like Muslims. Hindus living in Pakistan bury the dead body in sitting posture i.e. meditation posture. For this, instead of a grave like place, a pit is dug and a cone shaped mausoleum is built over it.

Difficulties regarding immersion of bones in Pakistan

In Hindu religion in India, after death, the ashes are immersed in the Ganges river. But the Hindu community living in Pakistan has to wait a long time for this. The ashes of the people who are cremated there are immersed in the rivers there. However, many Hindu families wish that the ashes of their ancestors flow into the Ganga. For this they have to go through a long process, because permission to bring the ashes from Pakistan to India is not obtained quickly. Recently, more than 400 urns were brought to India from Pakistan. Who were immersed in the river Ganga in Haridwar. These ashes had reached India via Attari border. According to the Mahant of Karachi’s Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, these ashes were kept in Pakistan for about 8 years. When the number of bones increases, they are brought to India and immersed in the Ganges. After the partition of India and Pakistan, the ashes have been brought to India thrice till now, this had happened in 2011 and 2016 also.

India replied to Switzerland in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), describing the Swiss delegation’s comments on the behavior with minorities in the country as surprising, superficial and ignorant. On Wednesday (September 10, 2025) in Geneva, in the 60th session of the Human Rights Council, he responded to India on the allegations of the United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner.

Responding to India, Permanent Mission Counselor Kshitij Tyagi dismissed the Swiss statement, saying that since Switzerland is chaired by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), it is even more important for him to avoid wasting the time of the council and not wasting on the statements that do not do justice to the reality of India. Instead, he should focus on his challenges like racism, discrimination and foreign-malice.

India’s strong reply to Pakistan in UNHRC
India also responded to Pakistan after the comments made by Islamabad during the debate. Tyagi accused Pakistan of misusing the council for political propaganda and reiterated India’s attitude that Pakistan sponsor terrorism across the border.

Tyagi told the House that we are once again obliged to respond to the provocation of the country, which recently compared it to the ‘dump truck’, which is probably suitable for the country who is inadvertently suitable for the country which keeps repeating lies and wealthy propaganda repeatedly before this reputed council.

We do not listen to anything from the sponsors of terrorism- Tyagi
He referred to several terrorist attacks related to Pakistan -based terrorist groups, which cited Pulwama, Uri, Pathankot, Mumbai and the recently Pahalgam attack in April. Tyagi said that we do not have to hear anything from the sponsor of terrorism. There is no preaching from the atrocities on minorities, we do not want any advice from a state that has lost its credibility.

During the interim government of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh, steps towards making the country an Islamic nation have intensified. The largest Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami is now trying to implement Sharia law in the country. According to a report, this organization, supported by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, has started imposing jazia on Hindus and other religious minorities. This decision is being considered a sign of converting Bangladesh’s secular structure into Islamic rule. The special thing is that the Yunus government is silent on this whole matter.

Jaziya recovery started from 1 August
According to an exclusive report by Blitz Editor Salahuddin Shoaib Chaudhary, Jamaat-e-Islami has started collecting Jizia from Hindus and non-Muslims since 1 August 2025. Earlier on July 25, Jamaat chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman had publicly announced that non-Muslims would have to pay this tax, like Muslims give zakat.

Rehman’s disputed statement
In a gathering, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that if all communities in Bangladesh want equal rights, then Hindus and non-Muslims will have to be given to Jiziya. He claimed that this is true according to Sharia law. Rahman said that just as Muslims give part of their property as zakat for religious works, in the same way, non-Muslims should give jaziya.

Jamaat-e-Islami-The Bangladeshi Arm of the Muslim Brotherhood-Has Begun Imposing The Medieval Jizya Tax on Hindus and Other Religious Minorities, Openly Declaring Its Intent to Replace the Country’s Secular Framework With Sharma Lawhttps://t.co/byukjsivv6

– Salah uddin shoaib choudhury (@salah_shoaib) August 23, 2025

What is the meaning of Jaziya Kar?
Jaziya is an Islamic tax, which is levied on non-Muslims. This was common in medieval Islamic rule and critics have always considered it a policy of making non-Muslims as second-class citizens. Its beginning in the present Bangladesh is considered to be a big step towards the implementation of Islamic rule by moving away from the secular principles of the country.

Disputed history of Jamaat-e-Islami
The history of Jamaat-e-Islami is associated with controversies and cruelty in Bangladesh. It supported Pakistan during the 1971 liberation struggle and was involved in the massacre of Bengali citizens along with the Pakistani Army. Even today, this organization has the support of Pakistan ISI and many Islamic-Jehadi organizations. This is the reason that concern has increased in Bangladesh about the current situation.
