A painful news from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has shocked the entire country. Here three minor sisters committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor. Initial investigation revealed that the three sisters were addicted to a task-based online Korean love game. At the same time, this incident is not just a family’s sorrow but is being considered a big warning regarding the mental safety of children in the digital era.

Actually, three sisters living in Bharat City Society of Sahibabad, whose age was around 12, 14 and 16 years. Was immersed in mobile gaming for a long time. It was told that she neither went to school nor met anyone outside. All three had even kept Korean names for themselves and started following Korean culture. According to the family, when their father objected to their gaming habit and snatched away their mobile phone, all three went under deep mental pressure. After which he committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of the flat. A suicide note was also found from the spot, in which it was written, Mom and Dad, sorry… I am not able to leave the game. In such a situation, let us now tell you that if a child plays online games, are thoughts of suicide coming in his mind and if you see what signs, then you should be alerted.

What is Korean Love Game?

According to experts, Korean Love Game is an online game in which an unknown person contacts the user through social media. Calling himself a Korean, he talks about friendship and love. After winning the trust, he starts giving small tasks. In the beginning the tasks are easy, but gradually they become difficult and increase mental pressure. If the user refuses to complete the task, he is threatened and intimidated. There are about 50 tasks in this type of game, which last for several days.

How do online games affect the minds of children?

Experts say that the brains of children and teenagers are not fully developed. In such a situation, they start considering the characters and challenges of the game as the real world. The pressure of completing the task, fear and fear of defeat weakens their decision making ability. Apart from this, according to American psychologist Jean M. Twenge’s book iGen, since 2011, there has been a rapid increase in cases of depression and suicide among youth due to online gaming and social media addiction.

Be alert if you see any signs

If your child keeps thinking about mobile or games all the time, shows anger or irritability when the game is stopped, starts distancing himself from family and friends, sleep and daily routine gets disturbed, loses interest in studies, feels sadness, fear or emptiness again and again, then these can be signs of online gaming addiction. According to experts, if 4 to 5 such signs are seen continuously then parents should immediately become alert.

What should parents do?

Experts say that giving mobile phones to children is not completely wrong, but monitoring is very important. Parents should talk openly to children. Their screen time should be monitored and parental controls should be used on the smartphone. With the help of parental control, children’s games, apps and online content can be limited. With this they can stay away from dangerous games and challenges.

In today’s digital era, games have become a part of everyday life from children to adults. Playing games for hours on mobiles, laptops and consoles has become common. But at the same time a question is constantly being raised whether excessive gaming is dangerous for the mind and body or there are some benefits to it. Regarding this, scientists say that gaming directly affects our brain and hormonal system. In such a situation, let us tell you today which hormone becomes active due to gaming and how many changes occur in the body due to it.

Gaming and brain connection

Nowadays, video games are designed in such a way that players stay connected to them for a long time. For this, the colors, sounds, tasks, reward system and levels in the game are prepared very thoughtfully. Experts say that during gaming, many parts of the brain are active simultaneously, especially those parts which are related to rewards, emotions and decision making.

Dopamine is gaming’s biggest hormone.

The first hormone that comes into play while playing games is dopamine. It is called feel good hormone. When a player completes a level in a game, wins or gets a reward, the brain releases dopamine. This makes one feel happy and excited and the player is motivated to play again. But if the game is not limited and continues for a long time, then the brain starts releasing excessive dopamine. Due to this, the brain gradually becomes less sensitive to that dopamine. The result is that to get happiness the player has to play more games than before. This is the reason why people who do excessive gaming may experience symptoms like fatigue, irritability, lack of focus and brain fog.

Fight or flight mode becomes active

The body’s fight or flight response may also become active while playing action and fighting video games. This is the same system that alerts us in times of danger. During such games, the mind sometimes considers the danger to be real, which can increase anger, restlessness and aggressive behavior. In this condition, the emotional part of the brain becomes more active and logical thinking starts weakening.

Effect of adrenalin and cortisol

Another hormone that increases rapidly during gaming is adrenalin. Adrenaline is released while playing fast-paced and exciting games, which can increase heart rate and blood pressure. If this happens continuously, it puts pressure on the body and the player may feel uneasy or tired. Along with this, cortisol, which is called stress hormone, can also increase during gaming. If cortisol remains active for a long time, problems like difficulty in sleeping, bad mood, depression and craving for junk food can appear.

Is gaming dangerous at all?

Scientists clearly state that gaming in itself is not dangerous. If it is played in limited time and with balance then it also has benefits. At the same time, research shows that gaming in the right amount improves the ability to concentrate, memory, speed of learning and problem-solving skills. At the same time, some games also promote creativity and strategic thinking.
