PM SHRI Schools: With the change of government in West Bengal, preparations have started for major changes in the education system as well. The new government has announced to implement the National Education Policy in the state and open at least one PM Shri School in every block. With this, once again PM Shri School Scheme came into discussion. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari has clearly said that the state’s education system will be freed from politics and made modern and technology based. In such a situation, the question is arising that what is PM Shri School and what is its objective. So let us tell you what is PM Shree School, which the government is considering opening in West Bengal.

What is PM Shree School?

The Central Government had started the PM Shri i.e. Prime Minister School of Rising India scheme in September 2022. The objective of this scheme is to develop government schools across the country as modern models. In these schools, under the National Education Policy 2020, emphasis is laid on new education method, smart classrooms, digital learning skill-based education and modern infrastructure.

PM Shri Yojana will be implemented in West Bengal

Recently a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and the Government of West Bengal to implement this scheme. This decision is also considered important because earlier the Mamata Banerjee government had opposed this plan. At that time the state government had raised objections about the Centre’s branding and interference in education matters. Now the new BJP government has decided to implement the scheme. At the meritorious student felicitation ceremony held in Kolkata, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said that at least one PM Shri School will be opened in every block of the state. So that modern education can be delivered to rural areas.

What will be the specialty of PM Shri School?

PM Shri schools will be prepared according to future needs. These will have smart classrooms, digital boards, modern lab-library and skill development facilities. Apart from this, there will also be focus on environment-friendly infrastructure and student-centric studies. In these schools, education will not be limited to books only, but students will be connected to practical learning, innovation and technology based education. The government claims that these schools will also serve as models for other government schools nearby. Let us tell you that under the scheme of the Central Government, 14,500 government schools across the country are to be developed as PM Shri Schools. At present, more than 13 thousand schools have been selected in the country. These schools are being prepared in accordance with the National Education Policy.
