LPG News: There is a war going on between Iran and the US since February, which is not ending till now. This is affecting oil imports worldwide. In India too, there is a shortage of oil and gas due to this war. Meanwhile, recently the Modi government of India has taken a big decision regarding gas. It has been decided by the government that public sector oil companies will now have to keep LPG stock for at least 30 days.

What did the government say?
In fact, recently Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, held a press briefing, in which she said, ‘Oil marketing companies have been asked to make LPG reserve of at least 30 days.’ This decision has been taken in view of the current situation. So that the countrymen do not have to face any kind of problem.

On the demand for domestic LPG, Sujata Sharma said, ‘Currently the consumption is 72,000 metric tons per day, out of which 50,000 to 52,000 metric tons is domestic production. Before the West Asia conflict, India’s domestic LPG production was about 35,000 metric tonnes per day. In the last four days, 1.78 crore LPG refill bookings have been received and approximately 1.8 crore cylinders have been delivered.

Confirmation of increasing demand for petrol and diesel
Not only this, the government has also said that the demand for petrol and diesel has also increased in many districts of the country. Sujata Sharma said, ’30 percent increase in petrol demand is being seen in 150 districts, while 100 percent increase is being seen in 14 districts. Similarly, there is a 30 percent increase in diesel demand in 156 districts, while 100 percent increase is being seen in 6 districts.

Apart from this, Sujata Sharma has also appealed to stop black marketing and hoarding of oil. Also talking about the supply of commercial LPG, it has been said that ‘186,000 metric tons of commercial LPG has been sold since May 1’.

Update on maritime traffic also received
Not only this, while giving an update on maritime traffic in this press briefing, Opesh Kumar Sharma, Director, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said, ‘Marshall Islands flagged ship Nisos Keros safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz on the night of 25-26 May and is expected to reach Visakhapatnam on 3 June 2026. This merchant ship is carrying approximately 270,000 metric tons of crude oil. All foreign crew members are in it.
