Mohammed Shami has not been selected in the Indian squad for the South Africa T20 series. He was last seen playing a match for Team India in the Champions Trophy 2025. After that, Team India played Tests, ODIs and T20s, but Shami kept dropping from the squad. Amidst all this, Shami has created a stir in Indian domestic cricket. This brilliant performance of Mohammed Shami has come at a time when the Indian pace attack has been exposed in the ODI series against South Africa. In the second ODI, Prasidh Krishna definitely took 2 wickets but gave away 85 runs. As a result, Team India lost the second ODI match even after scoring 358 runs. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has also raised questions as to why there is no experienced fast bowler in the squad for the ODI series against South Africa.

Mohammed Shami In Ranji Trophy: Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami is doing wonders in Ranji Trophy. Shami took 8 wickets in 28 overs. Shami had also taken 7 wickets against Uttarakhand in the last match played in Ranji Trophy. Shami is continuously bowling well for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami was last seen playing in an international match for Team India during the Champions Trophy 2025. Since then Shami has been out of the team. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had once said ‘no update’ when asked about Shami’s injury during a press conference. Shami, while talking to the media in response to this, said, ‘I am there to play, if I was not fit, then how would I have been playing Ranji Trophy’. When Ajit Agarkar got this reply from Shami, the Chief Selector said, ‘I think Shami and I need to talk about this’.
