The name of India’s fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is not interested in any introduction in the cricket world today. But behind his success, not only hard work and talent, but the story of a family who trusted dreams, even though the situation was very simple.

Siraj was born on 13 March 1994 in an ordinary family in Khaja Nagar area of Hyderabad. Father Mirza Mohammad Gaus used to drive auto rickshaw and mother Shabana Begum is a housewife. Elder brother Mohammad Ismail is an engineer. This family was financially limited, but had big dreams in the heart.

Siraj’s father Mirza Mohammad Gaus may not have played cricket, but he knew how important hard work and sacrifice is for dreams. They would leave the auto in the morning, after the hard work of the whole day, whatever the earnings would have been spent on the son’s cricket journey. Luck gave a big blow in 2020. His father died at the age of 53 due to lung disease.

Mother’s courage

Mohammad Siraj’s mother Shabana Begum handled the family in limited means. It was not easy to run a house in auto’s earnings and meet the son’s cricket expenses, but he never allowed Siraj to get away from his dreams. His blessings and courage were always with Siraj.

Brother showed the path of career

Fast bowler Siraj is elder brother Mohammad Ismail engineer, but he chose the path for his younger brother which was the most difficult. When many people advised Siraj to adopt a “safe” career, Ismail inspired him to focus on cricket completely.

According to media reports, due to focus on cricket and some other reasons, Siraj could not study further from intermediate. Talking in the family, Siraj’s elder brother Mohammad Ismail is the most educated, who is an engineer.

Mohammad Siraj emerged as the leader of Indian bowling in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He made a total of 9 wickets in the Oval Test and made a big contribution to India’s historic victory. Now the personal life of Siraj, who has become one of the best bowlers in the world, has been full of difficulties. Siraj usually goes to his father’s grave before going on a tour and returning to a tour. Siraj’s father, Mohammad Gaus used to run an auto-rickshaw, but died in 2021.

Siraj’s father died in 2021 when the Indian team was on the Australian tour. Since then, Siraj goes to his grave to stay connected with his father before and when he returns to a continuous tour.

Talking to the Times of India, Mohammad Siraj’s mother, Shabana Begum told that Siraj hugged him before going on England tour in June and said, “Ammi, pray for me. I should do well and win Team India.” After that, before going to Siraj Airport, according to the routine, he went to his father’s grave.

Shabana Begum said, “Siraj, loves his father very much. Siraj’s father also wanted him as much, he could do anything for his son. My prayers are always with his son. Allah, give my child a lot of success.”

Shabana Begum saw every match of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, her mother does not miss a single match whenever she plays. He cheered the Indian team on every occasion and read the prayers of five times a day. Siraj’s mother’s blessings worked as his son took a total of 23 wickets in the series, while Siraj made the most important contribution in India’s victory with 9 wickets in the Oval Test.
