The mood of the Nation Poln (MOTN) of August 2025 tells that if elections are held now, the NDA will get power again. The NDA is getting an estimated 324 seats. Opposition coalition India can get 208 seats. However, in January 2025, NDA seats were more than this. That is, the bounce shown at the beginning of the year has come down till August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi still remains the most popular leader in the survey. Modi has got about 51–52% support for the post of Prime Minister (earlier this figure lived up to 55%). Rahul Gandhi’s rating has increased to about 25%. It was earlier between 18–20%. This means that Modi’s popularity remains stable, while Rahul Gandhi is constantly emerging as the main challenger.

An important aspect of the survey is that the NDA could not get the political benefit of the recent operation vermilion. There was a surge after the operation in January, but by August, the support decreased. Comparison, after the 2019 Balakot operation, the government got a bump of about 15%, which lasted for 12 weeks. In contrast, the jump was just 5% after the operation vermilion and barely 4 weeks. That is, people accepted that India’s reply was strong, but should have been more tough than that. Due to non -fulfillment of this increased expectations, BJP supporters were disappointed.

Rahul Gandhi’s lead and opposition solidarity

The survey also revealed that Rahul Gandhi’s stature has increased among the leaders of the opposition. Rahul Gandhi has now emerged as the biggest face of the opposition. The rating of other leaders like Mamta Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal has come down to Rahul’s favor at the national level. The large part of the opposition votes is now shifting towards Rahul Gandhi.

In which states the opposition benefits?

According to Yashwant Deshmukh, the India alliance seems to be gaining in some states between February to August 2025. This includes Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Telangana. At the same time, BJP and NDA are seeing benefits in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, because the alliance of AIDMK and BJP is increasing vote share.

Details of satisfaction and dissatisfaction

The number of people angry with the central government has increased this time and the number of people who are happy has decreased. The BJP supporters also saw the most disappointment about the ceasefire after Operation Sindoor. However, this does not mean that BJP supporters have gone in favor of Congress or Rahul Gandhi. Rather, this despair is strengthening numbers in the opposition camp itself.

Opinion of experts

PM Modi’s support in the survey is stable around 50%. Rahul Gandhi’s support has increased to 25% baseline. That is, there is a ratio of 1: 2 between BJP (40%) and Congress (20%) at the party level and Modi (50%) at the leader level. Opposition profit will be limited until the Congress makes a dent in the middle class vote bank.

India Today Group and C-Voter conducted the MOTN POLL (MOTN POLL) regarding the affairs of the country and abroad (tariffs). In this survey, people were worried about the high tariff imposed by America. About two-thirds i.e. 63 percent of the people appeared worried about the tariff on Donald Trump’s Indian exports, while only 27 percent said that they do not care.

People’s concerns about American tariff were clearly seen. In terms of relations with Washington, 61 percent of the people said that India should continue negotiating without compromising their interests. About 23 percent believed that the economy could face American tariffs, while only 9 percent says that New Delhi should accept American demands.

India’s opinion on America trade
54 percent of the people blamed America for India America trade talk failure, while 22 percent blamed India. 16 percent considered both sides equally responsible.

What said on America-Pakistan relations
America’s growing relations with Pakistan are another concern for India. 59 percent of the people said that if America increases support for Pakistan, then India should strengthen its relations with allies like Russia. 6 percent supported talks with Pakistan.

What Indians think about China
Regarding China, 52 percent of people believe that close trading and diplomatic relations with Beijing strengthens India’s global status, while 26.3 percent of the people are afraid that these relations will weaken safety interests.

The survey was conducted between July 1 to August 14, 2025, in which 54,788 people from all Lok Sabha constituencies were discussed. 1,52,038 additional interviews were also analyzed from C Voter’s regular tracker data. A total of 2 lakh 6 thousand 826 people were consulted for this report.
