India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday (August 7, 2025). The meeting was held with the aim of strengthening energy and defense cooperation between India and Russia. Doval had reached Moscow on Wednesday and had already indicated that Putin could travel to India at the end of the year.

Important talks with Russian Security Council Secretary
Earlier in the day, Doval also met Sergei Shoigu, Secretary, Russian Security Council. Shoigu said that there are “strong and the test of time” friendly relations between India and Russia. He said that it is important for the two countries to decide the time of new high level talks between President Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Emphasis on India-Russia strategic partnership
Shoigu said that the most important thing for Moscow is that special and privileged strategic partnership with India should be strengthened in every way. This partnership is based on mutual respect, faith, equal idea of each other’s interests and desire to promote shared agenda.

Cooperation in dealing with shared challenges
The Russian Security Council Secretary also said that both countries are committed to dealing with the challenges and dangers of modern times. India and Russia have been strategically connected with each other in security, defense, energy and technical fields for many decades.

Russia has appealed to be vigilant about nuclear rhetoric due to a dispute between US President Donald Trump and former Russian President Dimitri Medvedev. Kremlin spokesperson Dimitri Peskov said on Monday that Russia takes nuclear non -proliferation seriously and all sides should take great care in this subject.

Angered by the warnings of Dimitri Medvedev, Trump said that he has ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed in ‘appropriate areas’ near Russia. He took this decision seriously taking Medvedev’s ‘inflammatory and silly’ statements.

Medvedev’s threats and Trump’s response
Medvedev warned Trump that every new ultimatum is a step towards war. Trump recently reduced the ceasefire of the ceasefire from 50 days to 10–12 days in Ukraine, which Medvedev expressed his displeasure.

Russia’s response and Vaitchoff’s visit to Moscow
Russia welcomed Trump’s special messenger Steve Vitkoff’s visit to Moscow. Peskov said, ‘We are always happy to see Vitkoff in Moscow. Such contacts are important and helpful. He also indicated a possible meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

How many and what nuclear submarines do America have?
The US Navy fleet includes three types of nuclear power -powered submarines.

1. Ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) – These submarines are equipped with nuclear weapons and serve to intimidate the enemy strategically.
2. Attack submarine (SSN) – These high speed submarines are designed to destroy enemy ships and other submarines.
3. Guided missile submarine (SSGN) – They have long distance missiles, which can target any target from a distance.

Trump’s warning- ‘Medvedev is entering dangerous area’
US President Donald Trump, former Russian President and currently vice -president of Security Council Dimitri Medvedev were badly provoked. Trump said, ‘Russia’s unsuccessful former President Medvedev, who still considers himself president, should explain to him to pay attention to his words. He is entering a very dangerous area.
