A big and important decision has been taken for women in Iran. Now women will be able to legally obtain a license to drive a motorcycle. According to AFP reports, after this decision the legal confusion that has been going on for years has come to an end. This was announced on Wednesday (4 February 2026). Earlier in the law, there was no clear ban on women driving motorcycles or scooters, but still the administration did not give them licenses.

Because of this, women had to face many problems. Even if a woman was injured in a road accident, many times she was considered guilty because she did not have a license. Now the new decision of the government is expected to solve this problem.

Vice President Mohammad Raza Arif signed

Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif signed a proposal in this regard on Tuesday. This proposal had received approval from Iran’s cabinet in late January. According to the government news agency, its purpose is to make traffic rules clear and uniform. Under the new rules, traffic police have been instructed to give training to women to ride motorcycles. After this the examination will be taken under police supervision. Women who pass the exam will be given regular motorcycle driving license.

Initially these demonstrations started regarding inflation and economic problems, but later took the form of a movement against the government. According to the government, more than 3,000 people have died in these incidents.
