WPL 2026 Schedule: In a few hours, the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is going to start with full preparations. This time the league is special in many ways. For the first time, WPL will be played in the January-February window and some new experiments will also be seen in the tournament.

When and where will it start?

WPL 2026 will start on 9 January 2026. The first match will be played between defending champion Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. There will be a total of 22 matches in the entire season. The first 11 matches will be played in Navi Mumbai while the remaining matches, including the eliminator and final, will be played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The final match will be held on 5th February.

The special thing about this season is that for the first time double header matches will also be played in this season. There will be two matches each on the same day on 10th and 17th January, which will further increase the excitement for the spectators.

Change in captaincy and new faces

Many teams have changed captaincy in WPL 2026. Delhi Capitals will now be commanded by Jemimah Rodrigues, while UP Warriors have handed over the responsibility of captaincy to Meg Lanning. Rewards and Rules

The team that wins the tournament is expected to get prize money of Rs 6 crore, while the runner-up will be given Rs 3 crore. A maximum of 4 foreign players can play in the playing-11 of a team, however, if a player from an associate country is included, 5 foreign players will be allowed.
