There is a fierce battle in Maharashtra on the performance of Manoj Jarange Patil over the demand for Maratha reservation. Meanwhile, in the ongoing agitation at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, a hearing was also held in Bombay High Court on Tuesday (September 2).

Earlier, the Maratha agitators had applied to increase the police permission to continue the movement in Azad Maidan last night. This morning, Mumbai Police rejected this application.

The Maratha agitators who have vacated the roads say that they will challenge this decision in the Bombay High Court in today’s hearing.

Hearing in the High Court was held in front of the bench of Acting Chief Justice Mr. Chandrashekhar and Justice Aarti Sathe. On behalf of the government, AG Dr. Birendra Saraf kept the side. At the same time, Advocate Satish Manshinde appeared on behalf of the Maratha agitators.

Manoj Jarange targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Manoj Jarage, who is fasting for reservation amid hearing in the High Court, said that he is ready to negotiate with the government but till his demands are met, he will not leave Mumbai. Jarage started a fast on Friday (August 29) at Azad Maidan in Mumbai to demand Maratha reservation. He said that the protesters have not violated any law. No one can stop the Maratha community from entering the state capital.

Manoj Jarange alleged that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is giving false information to the Bombay High Court and he will have its “paying” price. Jarange claimed, “You will not know whether he is Mumbaikar or Maratha.” Whatever will happen next Monday will be due to Fadnavis’s mistake.

He said that he will ensure that the government accepts their reservation demand and issue a government order by recognizing the Marathas as a Kunbi (an agrarian -oriented caste included in the Other Backward Classes). With this, they will be able to become eligible for reservation in government jobs and education.
