Murshidabad vioolence: Three people, including father-son died in violent clashes allegedly associated with the ongoing protest against Waqf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, after which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Saturday that the Waqf (Amendment) Act would not be implemented in the state. Between increasing unrest in areas like Sati and Shamsherganj, Kolkata High Court, while hearing a petition filed by Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari, ordered the deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the affected areas.

In West Bengal, the number of deployment of paramilitary force Border Security Force personnel in violence -prone areas was increased, about 1600 personnel will soon take a front in violence -hit areas. Right now 800 soldiers are present in violent areas. The deployment of BSF jawans is being done after a meeting held between the Union Home Secretary, the DGP of the state and the Chief Secretary. It was decided in the meeting yesterday that the state government will submit a report about violence to the Union Home Ministry at regular intervals. Apart from this, about 10 companies of paramilitary force have been kept on alert, which can be deployed in West Bengal anytime if needed. The personnel of the central paramilitary forces deployed will work with the state police to handle the law and order.

1. A division bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen said that when such situations arise, the court “cannot remain closed” and emphasized the need to provide adequate protection to the common people. The court also directed the Center and the state to submit a detailed report on the situation before the next hearing on 17 April.

2. At least three people, including father and son, died and more than 150 people have been arrested and more than 150 people have been arrested due to violent protests in Suti and Shamsherganj blocks of Murshidabad. To pacify the protesters, the Chief Minister made it clear that the concerned law has been enacted by the Central Government, not their government. The Chief Minister said in a post on ‘X’, “Remember, we have not made the law on which many people are angry. This law has been made by the Central Government. So the answer you want should be asked from the central government.” He asked, “We have clarified our position in this matter – we do not support this law. If this law will not apply in our state, then why is the riot.”

3. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan spoke on the Murshidabad violence with a video conference with West Bengal Chief Secretary and DGP. The Union Home Secretary asked the Chief Secretary and DGP of West Bengal to take adequate steps to ensure normal status as soon as possible.

4. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that in addition to about 300 BSF personnel available locally in the violence affected Murshidabad, five more companies were deployed at the request of the West Bengal government. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Union Home Secretary said that the Center is closely monitoring the situation, he assured West Bengal of all possible help.

5. The official said that the bodies of father and son were recovered in a house in Jafarabad in the violence affected Shamsherganj area, who had stabs with a knife. The family of the deceased alleged that the criminals looted their house and hit both of them with a knife. In another incident, a 21 -year -old youth was shot dead and died in Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital on Saturday evening during a clash at Sajur Mor in Sajur, Sajur on Friday. Violence took place in some areas on Saturday too. Two workers of a bidi factory, including a minor boy, were shot dead while going to work in Dhulian. Both are being treated at Murshidabad Medical College and their condition is said to be stable. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Javed Shamim told reporters in Kolkata that more than 150 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence.

6. Violence arose against the Central Government’s Waqf (Amendment) Act caused extensive disruption. The protesters set the police vehicles on fire, blocked the roads and damaged the railway property. Train services between Dhulianganga and Nimmatita stations on Friday on the New Farakka-Azimganj rail route of Eastern Railway were interrupted for about six hours. Prohibition has been implemented in many parts of Murshidabad and internet services have been suspended to prevent the situation from further deteriorating.

7. Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar warned of strict action against the people involved in the violence. He said, “This is a fight between good and evil. Rumors will have to stop spreading. We will request people not to take the law in their hands. We assure them that the police will take strict steps against the culprits and protect the life and property of the common people. ”

8. Leader of the Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari demanded that the protesters protesting the Waqf (Amendment) Act to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), allegedly damaging and sabotage of railway property. He posted on ‘X’ and said, “Let me tell you that there was nothing to protest about it, this violence was pre -planned.” This is an attack on democracy and governance by jihadi forces, who want anarchy to claim their dominance and spread fear among other communities of our society. “He said,” Public property was destroyed, government officials were threatened, and created an atmosphere of fear. All this was done under false guise of disagreement. ”

9. BJP’s state unit president Sukant Mazumdar urged the Trinamool government to strictly implement the rule of law in Murshidabad. He said that such a “barbarity and hooliganism will be stopped and crushed by a section of minorities when the BJP comes to power in the state.” Majumdar said, “Hinduism believes in the true concept of secularism, pluralism as he is peace -loving and non -violent.” But if an attempt is made to take out Hindus from some areas of Murshidabad, where Muslims are majority, the common people of Bengal, Hindus of Bengal will retaliate to save their dignity, respect and identity.

10. While reversing this, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that the opposition is trying to spoil communal harmony for political gains.

Murshidabad vioolence: The police were allegedly thrown stones at the Muslim -majority Murshidabad district of West Bengal on Tuesday during the protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act and its vehicles were set on fire. The officers provided this information. The incident took place on National Highway 12 in Jangipur area, where in the afternoon a large number of people started demanding the withdrawal of this law.

A senior police officer from the district said, “The protesters threw stones at the police stationed in the area and some police vehicles were set on fire.” He said that security in the area has been increased after the incident.

The official said that some policemen were injured in the clash. He said that some people have been detained in connection with the incident. West Bengal Police said in a post on ‘X’ that the situation is completely under control.

Internet services closed

Section 163 has been implemented for 48 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday (April 8). Internet services have been discontinued in Jangipur subdivision.

What did the police say after the violence?

The police said in the post, “The crowd has been dispersed. Traffic on the national highway has become normal. Strict action will be taken against those who commit violence. “The post said,” Legal action will also be taken against those who try to spread misinformation, rumors. We all request not to pay attention to rumors. ”

Minister Siddicullah Chaudhary bowed down

State Minister and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind West Bengal President Siddicla Chaudhary condemned the police action and said that even during the rule of the Left parties, the minorities were not treated by the police.

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Siddikullah Chaudhary said, “Even during the rule of the Left parties, the police never lathi -charged the minorities. If someone has resorted to violence, then action should be obviously taken. But lathicharge on a rally is unacceptable. ”

BJP accused the state government

On the other hand, the BJP convicted the ruling Trinamool Congress for this situation and accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of being involved in the “appeasement of minorities” and failed to maintain law and order. BJP state president Sukant Mazumdar accused ‘X’ in a post that a special community rioted in Murshidabad, set fire to police vehicles and destroyed government property, while the Chief Minister remained “silent”.

Why protest is happening?

Parliament passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill last week. President Draupadi Murmu gave his approval to the proposed law on April 5. The BJP -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) supported the bill, while the ‘India’ alliance of opposition parties opposed it. Many Muslim organizations and opposition MPs have approached the Supreme Court against the law.

The ruling coalition has described it as a step of increasing transparency and empowerment for backward Muslims and women of the community. At the same time, the opposition has termed it as unconstitutional and said that the Waqf (Amendment) law violates the rights of Muslims.
