After the news of closure of ‘Apne 2’, fans of late Dharmendra were disappointed. However, producer Deepak Mukut has dismissed the rumors of ‘Apne 2’ being shelved and confirmed that work on the film is going on and it will be made as a heartfelt tribute to the great actor.

The original film ‘Apne’, starring Dharmendra and his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, is back in the news after the veteran actor’s demise. The film held a deep emotional significance for him, and now the team is hoping to honor his legacy by going ahead with the sequel with a renewed commitment.

Commenting on the rumours, Deepak Mukut said in an official statement as quoted by Times Now, “People need to stop spreading unconfirmed rumours. ‘Apne 2’ is not closed. The film is being made, and is being made with full confidence. This is one of the most emotionally important projects undertaken by our banner.”

He further added, “Apne was Dharamji’s. His presence, his warmth, his soul, his every thought made that film what it became. ‘Apne 2’ is very close to my heart. In many ways, this film will be a tribute to Dharamji, with the Deol family on screen.”

Originally announced with Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Karan Deol, creative restructuring is being done in this sequel. The first installment was released in 2007 and left a deep impression on the hearts of the audience.

Dharmendra passes away
Dharmendra passed away on November 24 and left behind a unique legacy. Almost the entire film industry had gathered to pay tribute to him at his funeral. On Thursday, November 27, the Deol family organized a prayer meet for the late actor which was attended by many celebs from Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai to Salman Khan.

There is mourning in the entire industry due to the demise of Dharmendra. His fans are missing him a lot. Fans are saddened by Dharmendra’s departure and one of his films has also been shelved. The film Apne came together with the Deol family. Now all three generations of the Deol family were coming together. Which was being made by director Anil Sharma. Dharmendra left this world on 24th November at the age of 89. He was ill for a long time. He was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai a few days ago. Dharmendra had trouble breathing after which he was admitted.

While talking to Hindustan Times, Anil Sharma said- One cannot exist without one’s own people. It is impossible to make a sequel without Dharamji. Everything was on track and the script was also ready but he left us. Some dreams remained unfulfilled. This is not possible without them.

Let us tell you that this sequel was planned as a sequel to the 2007 family drama film ‘Apne’. In which Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Karan Deol were in lead roles. Despite being announced years ago, the shooting of the film never started.

Anil Sharma and Dharmendra had worked together in many films. Which includes films like Hukumat, Ailaan-e-Jung, Farishte, Tehelka, and Apne. Now he was coming together again with his two friends.
