Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along has given a strong warning to the fundamentalist leaders of Bangladesh who are talking about cutting India’s strategically important Chicken Neck (Siliguri Corridor). He said that the people of the tribal community of the North-East are experts in the art of throat cutting. This warning has come at a time when some radical elements in Bangladesh are heating up politics over this sensitive corridor connecting the North-East of India with the country.

Giving an open challenge to the fundamentalist elements of Bangladesh, Temjen mentioned the Mahabharata characters Ghatotkacha and Hidimba. According to Mahabharata, Ghatotkacha and Hidimba belonged to the North-East. Hidimba, who was the wife of Bhima and mother of Ghatotkacha, belonged to the Dimasa tribe of Assam and Nagaland.

We have a strong link with India, we are Indians – Temjen

Giving a frank statement, Temgen Imna Along said that any attempt to weaken the territorial integrity of India will prove to be a big mistake. They have not seen our strength. Whatever the people of Bangladesh are saying, we do not condemn it so much, let them come and see in the North-East, we know what their intention is. If those people think that there is no chicken neck or no neck, then they are wrong. We are connected to India by a strong link. We are Indians.

Nagaland minister’s stern warning

He said, ‘We do not want to say that all Bangladeshis are wrong, some crazy people talk like this. If they have not seen Ghatotkacha and Hidimba, they are welcome. We will show them what we are capable of. They should forget that it was not India that liberated them and if they have forgotten so soon, then many things can happen. As far as slitting the throat is concerned, he doesn’t know any better than us.

Ranji Trophy 2025-26: The fourth round of Ranji Trophy 2025-26 has started. Till now, many batsmen have attracted everyone’s attention with their brilliant performances, but what happened at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur surprised everyone. Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Shivam Mavi, who usually does wonders with the ball, shone with the bat this time. Coming in at number 8, he scored a century which no one expected.

The bowler’s bat also ‘spoke’

Uttar Pradesh won the toss and chose to bat first against Nagaland. After this, the UP team declared its first innings after scoring 535 runs for 6 wickets. The batsmen had laid a good foundation from the beginning, but the most talked about thing was Shivam Mavi’s innings. As soon as he landed at number 8, Mavi started his storm on the pitch. He scored 101 runs in just 87 balls. During this, he hit 10 fours and 5 sixes.

This century of Mavi is also special because he touched the figure of 100 runs for the first time in his first class career. Earlier, he had never been able to score even 50 runs in 21 matches, but this time he not only scored a half-century but also converted it into a brilliant century.

Batsmen also added color

Apart from Shivam Mavi, the top order batsmen of the team also performed brilliantly. Wicketkeeper batsman Aryan Juyal played a brilliant inning of 140 runs in 205 balls. During this period he hit 18 fours. Whereas Madhav Kaushik presented a great example of patience and class. He scored unbeaten 185 runs on 374 balls and remained at the crease till the end of the innings. Opener Abhishek Goswami also gave a solid start to the team by contributing 55 runs.

Nagaland bowlers were ineffective

No bowler from Nagaland could put pressure on the batsmen of Uttar Pradesh. Mavi especially attacked the spinners fiercely. His sixes were reaching the spectators’ gallery of Green Park. Nagaland’s bowling rhythm completely deteriorated.

This innings of Mavi can not only prove to be the turning point of his career, but is also considered to be one of the most memorable innings of the Ranji season.

Ajit pawar setback: All seven MLAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Nagaland joined the ruling NDPP on Saturday, which led to an absolute majority in the 60 -member assembly. With this merger, the number of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) MLAs increased from 25 to 32.

Nagaland unit supported Ajit Pawar -led faction after a break in Sharad Pawar’s party NCP. In the 2023 assembly elections, NDPP and its ally BJP emerged as the third largest party in the state, which won 12 seats.

According to the order issued by Assembly Speaker Sharingan Longkumer, the seven MLAs present themselves and handed over formal letters, in which their decision to merge with NDPP was reported. He said that this merger fulfills the constitutional requirement under the tenth schedule of the Constitution.

Assembly speaker approved the merger of MLAs

The order said that as per the member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (disqualification on the basis of defection) Rules, 2019, the Speaker approved the merger and directed the Assembly Secretariat to update the party affiliation records accordingly. Minister in the state government KG Kenay said at a press conference, ‘This evening, 7 NCP MLAs handed over their merger letter to the Speaker, which they have politely accepted. With this, the number of NDPP members in the 14th Nagaland Assembly has increased from 25 to 32.

State government spokesman Kenay said, “This development will strengthen the functioning of our Chief Minister and the government.” Asked what will affect the system of seat-sharing within the ruling alliance with this merger, he said that there is no permanent formula.

How many MLAs of which party in Nagaland?

NCP leaders and legislative legislators in the state could not be contacted to comment. Apart from 32 NDPP and 12 BJP MLAs, NPP’s 5 in the state assembly, LJP (Ram Vilas), Naga People’s Front and RPI (Athawale) have two members each, one and four independent MLAs of JD (U).
