9 August 1945 was the day of the second world war when the US Army dropped a atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. This mission was led by Major Charles Sweeny. He dropped the name Fat Man from the B29 bomber aircraft boxer. Thousands of people were killed and the city was turned into ruins after this explosion. Sweeni later admitted after this attack that this incident had taken away her nights and this scene came back to her dreams.

The goal of the mission changed from Kokra
Sweeni’s original goal was Kokra city but due to weather failure and smoke, it was not possible to target there. After several attempts, he got an order that he moved towards Nagasaki. The weather was a little clear there and the decision to drop the bomb was taken the same.

The city was destroyed in a single moment
As soon as the bomb fell, the scene of destruction spread in Nagasaki. Thousands of people were killed immediately and many injured people were dying due to radiation and serious wounds in the coming days. Large parts of the city turned into ashes. This attack forced Japan to surrender and the end of the second world war came close.

Pilot’s feelings and guilt direction
Major Sweeni said after this attack that he had completed this mission as a soldier under his duty. He believed that this step ended the war quickly and the soldiers’ life was saved. But despite this, the picture of Nagasaki and the memories of the destruction there kept harassing him throughout his life. He told that on many nights he kept watching in the scene of that day and his sleep was broken.

Remember of Nagasaki Day
Nagasaki Day is celebrated every year on 9 August. On this day, tributes are paid to those killed in a nuclear attack and the message of peace is given. This day reminds the world how frightening the destructive strength of weapons in war can be and why a world is needed from nuclear weapons.

Also read- In 1942, this district of UP had become ‘independent’ from the British, this was the condition of the British
