A major road accident took place late night near Kainchi Dham in Nainital. The car of the wedding procession going from Almora to Haldwani suddenly went out of control and fell into a ditch about 60 meters deep. The accident was so severe that the vehicle was blown to pieces. As soon as the information was received, SDRF and local police immediately rushed to the spot.

Late night on Saturday (November 22), police post Khairna received information that an SUV had fallen into a ditch near Kainchi Dham. It was told that there were 4 people in the vehicle. The team led by Inspector Rajesh Joshi from SDRF Post Khairna immediately reached the spot. The vehicle was found fallen in a deep ditch at a place called Ratighat. The vehicle is said to be of a wedding procession going from Almora to Haldwani.

The SDRF team had to face very challenging situations on the spot. The ditch was very deep, the hilly terrain was rough and the dense darkness of the night was making the rescue more difficult. Despite this, the soldiers started the operation without wasting any time. To reach the vehicle the team had to take the help of ropes and stretchers.

One injured rescued, three people died

The rescue team found an injured person in the ditch, who was safely rescued and sent to the hospital in 108 ambulance. The injured has been identified as Manoj Kumar, resident of Almora.

Unfortunately, three people died on the spot in the accident. The SDRF team took out the bodies from the deep ditch and handed them over to the local police. All the dead have also been identified. Among them were Sanjay Bisht, Surendra Bhandari, Pushkar Bhaisoda. All were residents of Almora.

The joy of the wedding procession turned into mourning

Those who were going to join the procession had no idea that within a short time this journey of happiness would turn into mourning. The villagers also appreciated the action of SDRF and told that it was very difficult to carry out the rescue work in the darkness of the night, but the team completed the rescue with full promptness.
