Bangladesh Test team captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto has given great advice to the Bangladesh Cricket Board. This statement of Shanto has come after Bangladesh’s announcement of not participating in the T20 World. Shanto said that in the last one-two years the environment outside the field has caused a lot of damage to cricket.

In a press conference after a match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shanto said, “As a player, the off-field environment has caused a lot of damage to cricket in the last one-two years. My appeal to the people in responsible positions is to come together, find solutions, and ensure that cricket continues. Without better administration and a clear plan, uncertainty will continue to increase, which will affect both the players and the game.”

Shanto also said that if Bangladesh is unable to participate in the World Cup, then the BCB should organize a strong, well-organized domestic competition for the players and fans, so that the players get continuous competition. He called for improvements in the organization of domestic cricket, including in Dhaka, saying that the tournament should be organized better and more smoothly than previous editions.

Stressing the need to keep on-field and off-field issues separate, Shanto warned that administrative conflicts could harm the progress, competitiveness and future of Bangladesh cricket. In the current situation, his appeal reflects the common concern of the cricket community which is demanding responsible leadership to maintain the momentum of the game.

Let us inform you that Bangladesh had requested ICC to shift their matches of 2026 T20 World from India to Sri Lanka. However, ICC did not accept this demand and then Bangladesh government refused to allow its team to participate in this global tournament. Now ICC has also announced the replacement of Bangladesh. Scotland has been included in the T20 World Cup in place of Bangladesh.

Shanto also targeted Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director M. Nazmul Islam. He strongly criticized calling former captain Tamim Iqbal an “agent of India”. Tamim had advocated a restrained and practical approach to resolve the current impasse.

Bangladesh’s participation in next month’s T20 World Cup in India has been embroiled in controversy, with the BCB asking the ICC to shift the team’s matches out of India citing security reasons.

Shanto told reporters on Friday, ,If you look at our World Cup results, we have never played good cricket consistently. Last year we had performed better, but there were better opportunities, which we could not take advantage of. You will see that something or the other happens before every World Cup. From the experience of playing three World Cups, I can say that it has an impact. Now we act as if nothing affects us and we are completely professional cricketers. You guys also understand that this is not easy. Of course, it would be better if all this did not happen. This situation is largely out of our control.,

The T20 World Cup is to start from February 7 and Bangladesh has to play four matches in India (three in Kolkata and one in Mumbai). Bangladesh has demanded to shift these matches to Sri Lanka. BCB has taken this step after releasing fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from IPL on the instructions of BCCI.
