Bhopal Municipal Corporation President Kishan Suryavanshi has once again written a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, giving air to the politics of changing the name. He has demanded that the names of the prestigious institutions of Bhopal, Hamidia College, Hamidia Hospital and Hamidia School be changed.

Suryavanshi says that these institutions should be named after the nationalists of India, such as the recent CM Rise School was named ‘Sandipani Vidyalaya’.

Serious allegations against Nawab

Kishan Suryavanshi made serious allegations against Hamidullah Khan, the last Nawab of the princely state of Bhopal and said that he did not allow the princely state of Bhopal to merge with India for two years after independence. Suryavanshi claimed that the Nawab wanted to go to Pakistan and become the wazir there.

He also alleged that the post master who hoisted the tricolor on Independence Day was sent to jail by the Nawab. Apart from this, he also said that 6 freedom fighters were shot during the merger movement, but they did not allow the tricolor to fall.

Congress’s sharp reversal

The Congress has strongly opposed this demand. Congress spokesperson Abbas Hafiz, taking a dig at the BJP and Municipal Corporation president, said that the BJP is giving posts to such people who are distorting history.

Hafiz said that Nawab Hamidullah Khan had peacefully compromised the Government of India and merged Bhopal. He never went to Pakistan, nor did the Government of India declare him an enemy at any level.

Hafiz accused the BJP of communal politics and said that all this is an attempt to divert attention from the real issues of the people. He questioned that when the Government of India never objected to the name of Hamidia institutions, then why this dispute now?

Explain that the name of any historical or public institution is not only under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation. For this, approval of the state government or central government is necessary. Such changes are possible only under the rules and notifications passed by Parliament.

Political stir in Bhopal has intensified in the demand for changing the names of Hamidia institutions. While the BJP seems to be in favor of changing the name on the nationalist basis, the Congress is calling it a divisive politics. At present, no official statement has come from the state government.

BJP vs congress, Controversy is increasing over the statement of the newly elected BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht’s name to be changed to ‘Shivpuri’ or ‘Shiva Vihar’ from Mustafabad, Delhi. He said that there are more people of majority communities in the area, so the name of the assembly should be according to him. He also clarified that he will bring a proposal in this regard in the first session of the assembly.

The Congress has reacted strongly to this statement of the BJP MLA. Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak said that BJP leaders have been entrusted with great responsibility by the people of Delhi, but they are busy changing the name instead of development. He said that BJP has got power in Delhi after 27 years, but instead of the 5 trillion dollar economy and development promises, they are engaged in changing the name of the assembly.

Politics hot on changing the name of Mustafabad

Ragini Nayak further said that the BJP had made promises like providing financial help to women and cleaning Yamuna, but now efforts are being made to divert attention from real issues. He asked if the public has given the BJP a majority to change the name of Mustafabad? Describing it as a tender politics, he said that there is nothing by keeping big names, real work will be done by development.

Will the proposal come in the assembly session?

The demand to change the name of Mustafabad has now taken the form of a big political controversy. While the BJP is looking at it by linking it with ‘cultural identity’, the Congress is calling it a conspiracy to deviate from the issues of public interest. Now it has to be seen whether this proposal is made in the first session of the assembly and what a turn in Delhi’s politics.
