On Monday (3 November 2025) on the occasion of Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a group of Sikh devotees left for Pakistan from India. Like every year, this time also this group was sent to visit Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib Gurudwara, but this time Pakistan did not allow Hindu devotees to enter along with the group.

According to officials, 12 Hindu pilgrims included in the Sikh group were stopped by Pakistani immigration officials. Pakistani officials posted at Wagah Border objected and said that this group is only for Sikh devotees. Hindu citizens cannot be allowed to enter Pakistan. After this, the Indian authorities had to send all those 12 devotees back from the border.

Sikh group went to Pakistan for the first time after Operation Sindoor

This journey was also special because this was the first time after Operation Sindoor, when a group of Sikh devotees from India went to Pakistan. After this operation, tension in India-Pakistan relations increased, but despite this, Indian devotees were allowed to attend the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

India expressed displeasure

Indian officials expressed displeasure over this incident and called it an example of religious discrimination. Officials said that India has never behaved like this with the devotees of any country. This incident is against the spirit of the India-Pakistan religious pilgrimage agreement, under which both the countries allow the movement of pilgrims to each other. This action of Pakistan has once again raised the question whether Pakistan is also making religious pilgrimages a part of politics?

Today on Tuesday (November 4), a group of Sikh pilgrims left for Pakistan from the SGPC office amidst cheers to celebrate the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Nankana Sahib. Let us tell you that this group will go to Pakistan via Attari Wagah Border.

Under the leadership of the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, this group will celebrate the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji tomorrow (5 November) at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. A group of Sikh devotees will return to India on November 13 after visiting the Gurudwaras of Pakistan.

What did Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh say?
Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj, who was leading the group, while congratulating everyone on the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, said that every Sikh prays every day to visit the long-lost Gurudwara Sahib, so today that prayer of the devotees going is going to be fulfilled. He further said that such groups should continue to go and the Government of Pakistan should open Kartarpur Sahib again for Sangat darshan.

The group is being led by SGPC member Bibi Gurinder Kaur, while Sardar Gurmeet Singh Boohe is accompanying the group as its deputy leader. Along with this group, Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj is also going, who will lead the Sangat.

Special function organized in SGPC office
The devotees accompanying the group say that they are fortunate that they are going to visit Gurdwara Sahib in Pakistan. They do not have words to explain that they are going to celebrate Prakash Parv at the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Before the departure of the contingent, a special function was organized at the SGPC office, where the leaders leading the contingent were honoured. The Sangats said that they are extremely excited because they are going to visit the historical Gurudwaras of Pakistan for the first time.
