Nargis had publicly jokingly called ‘pillar’
This story was also narrated by Annu Kapoor in one of her shows. He told that Vyjayanti Mala was very long. When everyone was standing for the group photo at the event, Nargis looked at Vyjayanti Mala and said- ‘Vyjayanti is very long, like a pillar, tree.’ Hearing this, tears came in her eyes and in that group photograph, she stood up with her knees. Vyjayanthimala rejected the Filmfare Award
Born on 13 August 1936 in Madras (now Chennai), Vyjayanthimala acted in films like ‘Naagin’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Madhumati’, ‘Sangam’, and ‘Sadhana’ and made her special place among the audience. In ‘Devdas’, he played Chandramukhi, which was refused by Nargis, Bina Roy, and Meena Kumari. He was awarded the Filmfare Award for this role, but he turned down it as he felt that this award should be not for the supporting actress but for the lead actress.

In the film career of Vyjayanthimala, he was honored with five Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India in 1968.
