Decades have passed since man stepped on the moon, but even today space shows us such sights which no human has ever seen with his own eyes. Something similar has happened this time too. Astronauts on space missions saw and captured on camera a part of the moon which till now had only been seen by machines. As soon as these photos came out, people all over the world were shocked—because this is not just a photo, but a new page of history.

Humans saw this part for the first time

Astronauts have taken pictures of an area called Oriental Basin of the Moon. This is a part of the Moon which till date no human has seen directly with his eyes. Before this, only robotic spacecraft were able to take its pictures. This area is on that side of the Moon, where its near and far side meet. According to scientists, this is one of the newest and largest impact craters of the Moon, whose outer circle extends for about 950 kilometers.

In this new image from our @NASAArtemis II crew, you can see Orientale basin on the right edge of the lunar disk. This mission marks the first time the entire basin has been seen with human eyes. pic.twitter.com/iqjod6gqgz

Space mission created history

This feat has happened during the Artemis II mission, which has been launched by NASA. This mission, launched on April 1, 2026, includes four astronauts, who are now at an important stage of their journey towards the moon. Astronauts told that as their spacecraft is getting closer to the Moon, its surface is appearing bigger and clearer than before. This experience is very special and exciting for them.

People’s reaction on social media

As soon as these pictures came out, there was a flood of people’s reactions on social media. Someone described it as “dreamlike”, while someone else said “it is like watching history in the making”. Many people wrote that future generations will read and remember these moments. NASA itself has shared this picture from its X account, which has been seen by millions of people so far.
