Pakistan’s star fast bowler Naseem Shah is in trouble. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a fine of two crore Pakistani rupees on Naseem Shah. Naseem Shah has been fined Pakistani rupees 2 crore for violating the rules of PCB’s central contract. Naseem had tweeted on his social media account about the presence of Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam in the cricket program.

In this post, the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the inaugural match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) was criticized. The post, made during the first match of the 2026 PSL, satirized the royal welcome given to Maryam at the Gaddafi Stadium. Maryam is the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and niece of current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

In reference to Maryam, Naseem Shah had posted, “Why is she being treated like the Queen of Lord’s?” The incident occurred after the PCB had banned fans from PSL matches in Lahore and Karachi to follow fuel-saving and government expenditure-cutting measures in the wake of the Gulf War.

The PCB announced that its disciplinary committee had found Naseem guilty of violating the terms of his central contract and not following social media guidelines. Naseem was issued a show cause notice on March 27, soon after Maryam reached Gaddafi Stadium as the chief guest at the inaugural match of PSL.

The tweet was quickly deleted and it was claimed that the account was hacked, but the PCB did not accept this explanation.
The board said that Naseem had replied to the show cause notice and had also tendered an unconditional apology for his behaviour, but the disciplinary committee found him guilty of indiscipline. Naseem’s social media advisor has already been removed and ‘blacklisted’ by the PCB.
