Tata Consultancy Services: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest software company, has said that the phase of layoffs is now over. Now the company will return to its standard increment cycle. This means that now the company will return to its old normal situation, due to which there will be no uncertainty regarding salary increment nor will there be a long wait. The standard cycle of TCS starts from April 1, which was delayed last year.

In fact, in July 2025, the company had announced large-scale layoffs, which was 2 percent of its global workforce (about 12,261 employees). The reason behind this was the need to adapt to technologies like structural restructuring and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Due to this decision of the company, employees were facing uncertainty regarding salary hike and their job security. However, these employees are now expected to get relief from the company’s new decision.

How did the company return to its old position?

CEO of the company. According to Kritivasan, the company has returned to its previous position in view of strong financial performance, improvement in demand and increasing confidence in the business environment. TCS earned a profit of Rs 13718 crore in Q4, which is 12.2 percent more than the same quarter last year. The company’s revenue has also increased by 9.6 percent to Rs 70698 crore. The company has also won new contracts worth $12 billion in the recent past, which also includes many mega deals. All this has helped the company to return to its old position.

Salary hike in TCS

In TCS, salary increases every year on the basis of performance. If reports are to be believed, top performing employees at TCS generally get double digit salary growth. A typical salary increase for most employees typically ranges between 4.5 percent to 7 percent depending on performance rating and grade.

Stir in TCS

Recently there was a sensational revelation of sexual harassment and forced conversion in the BPO unit of TCS in Nashik, Maharashtra. Some women working here made shocking claims of alleged sexual harassment, severe exploitation and attempts at forced conversion. Nashik Police has registered 9 FIRs in this case and arrested many people. According to police sources, two suspended employees named Tausif Attar and Nida Khan are being said to be the masterminds of this entire matter.

A big foot march of farmers and farm laborers started from Nashik towards Mumbai on Sunday (January 25). Thousands of people have taken to the streets demanding land rights, solid irrigation system and continuous electricity supply. This march is being taken out under the leadership of Marxist Communist Party and All India Kisan Sabha.

The protesters participating in the march held red flags in their hands and accused the government of not fulfilling promises. Farmers say that despite receiving assurances several times, concrete action was not taken on their ground problems.

The protesters have clearly warned that if serious talks are not held on their demands on the way, they will reach Mumbai and gherao the State Secretariat.

Big leaders also join the march

CPI(M) Politburo member and National President of All India Kisan Sabha Ashok Dhawale is also included in this march. Along with him, CITU National Vice President D.L. Karad is also walking on foot with the farmers. Leaders say that this movement is not just a list of demands, but a fight for the respect and rights of farmers.

What are the main demands of the farmers?

The main demands of the farmers include full implementation of the Forest Rights Act, ensuring land rights in tribal areas under the ‘PESA’ law, completion of pending irrigation schemes and guarantee of minimum support price for crops like soybean and maize. Farmers say that the delay on these issues is continuously affecting their livelihood.

Resolve to reach Mumbai

Former MLA J. P. Gavit told that the protesters have kept ration and essential items with them. He says that farmers and laborers are fully committed to reach Mumbai and the movement will continue until a solution is found.
