Mehbooba Mufti said in the city’s Baghat area, “It is unfortunate that the BJP has brought this place to a situation where they are forcing people to stand for the national anthem on the strength of guns. I remember my student life, whenever the national anthem was ringing, we used to stand in honor.

Police sources said that 15 spectators were detained in a police martyr football tournament in Srinagar on Tuesday evening, as they did not stand during the national anthem allegedly.

The families of the prisoners have blamed the ‘slow and vague’ band presentation for the incident, which they claim that the audience did not know about the launch of the national anthem.
