Exam Controversy 2026: Questions have once again arisen regarding national level competitive examinations. The four major examinations of the country in May 2026, NEET UG, CBSE 12th Board, SSC GD and CUET UG have been in controversies due to different reasons. At some places there were allegations of paper leaks, at some places questions were raised on the evaluation process and at some places technical glitches and chaos at the examination centers have increased the worries of lakhs of students and parents.

These continuously unfolding incidents have sparked a new debate regarding the transparency, preparation and management of the examination system. In such a situation, let us tell you today what errors have come to light in these four examinations NEET UG, CBSE 12th Board, SSC GD and CUET UG and what is happening in which.

Problems increased due to technical glitch in CUET UG

The first shift of CUET UG 2026 examination held on May 30 could not start on time at many centres. The exam, which was to be held at 9 am, started late by about 2 hours due to technical and server related problems. At many examination centres, students waited for long hours in the scorching heat. Some candidates claimed that the exam was postponed after waiting for hours. According to NTA, there was a technical problem from TCS, the company involved in conducting the examination, which was later rectified. The agency said that the affected students were given full time for the examination and no candidate will be allowed to suffer. Due to the disturbance, the timing of the second shift was also changed. This year more than 15 lakh students have applied for CUET UG.

NEET UG exam canceled after paper leak

The medical entrance exam NEET UG 2026 was among the biggest controversies this year. The examination held on May 3 was canceled after allegations of paper leak. Investigation revealed that before the examination, questions allegedly similar to the question paper were being shared on social media platforms. The investigation of the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation and many people have been arrested. More than 22 lakh candidates are now waiting for the re-examination. NEET UG examination is to be conducted on 21 June 2026.

Questions raised on CBSE 12th result

This year, for the first time, on-screen marking system was used in the evaluation of answer sheets of CBSE 12th board exam. After the results were declared, many students raised questions on the evaluation process. Some students said that the digital copies were not clear, while some complained about missing new pages and not getting low marks despite correct answers. For this reason, a large number of students applied for revaluation and rechecking of answer sheets. Seeing the demand of the students, the board re-opened the portal for the related process, but a case of technical glitch came to light in this also.

Chaos in SSC GD exam and exam cancellation

The GD constable recruitment examination of the Staff Selection Commission also remained in controversies. There were complaints of more candidates arriving at the examination centres, server related problems and shortcomings in examination management. At some centres, candidates had to wait for hours, while at many places there was not enough seating arrangement. As the situation worsened, the Commission had to cancel the examination in some shifts. The Commission clarified that the examination will be re-conducted for the affected candidates and new admit cards will be issued.
